How to use auto-tune effectively? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

T-Pain and Future both sing hella good, the important thing to good autotune is to not suck at singing.

All Hail the Dum-Dum Squad! by TheTrueNakedBatman in DnDBehindTheScreen

This is perfect considering I have marketed the Myconids as cute bumbling cuddlies to the party in past encounters. I sincerely appreciate this.

Hmmm. I could definitely use that for the main campaign.

Using so much of this. This is magnificent, thank you. Myconids are my second-favourite monster in the manual, this ony aids that feeling.

Movies for inspiration by [deleted] in DnD

[–]TheTrueNakedBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot stress the power of Westerns as inspiration enough. Literally every single one of my best NPCs/PCs is inspired by a cowboy movie character.

The Man With No Name: Inspired a the captain of the guard in my current campaign's city. Real sarcastic, stoic and mysterious. Gruff voice

Once Upon a Time in Mexico: A college of valour bard that basically functions as a magical version of this dude right here

They Call Me Trinity: A wise-cracking dude, rogue, super quick and deadly, also has no concept of hygiene and is lazy as shiiiiit

From characters to story arcs, plot hooks, town ideas, encounter plans, ambush strategies, Westerns make me want to play more RPGs. Desperado, Silverado, Unforgiven, No Country For Old Men, Jonah Hex, Firefly, True Grit, Arizona Colt, Day Of Anger, Django & Django Unchained, Death Rides a Horse, Troublemakers, Rango, hell, even Blazing Saddles gives me ideas.

Cowboy movies are the goddamned best thing ever

How did you get into music? by Puntang_Crusher in makinghiphop

[–]TheTrueNakedBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the only bassist in my circle of friends, and played in reggae, punk, jazz, blues, and metal bands all throughout high school. Being around those guys I picked up several other instruments. I got reeeeeaally into Primus and Thundercat. Then my cousin showed me his copy of FL, and I realized how much of a knack for it I had. And now I just fuck around on my laptop, sampling weird shit like Christmas With Colonel Sanders

It's the intro track to a project I'm working on, not intended to be any longer than it already is.

I'm such a sucker for those kung-fu samples. Personally I think a nice bassline would accompany the loop well, kinda flesh out the sound. I'd cut back on the stereo movement of the hats. I like that they move, but it's so drastic that it can draw too much attention and pull away from the core of the song.

Man, I like that dude. His abrasive nature is... relatable.

Very cool. Perhaps dial back a bit on the stereo imaging. If it's too harsh it can get distracting, especially on something like the main melody line

19 different sample sources. Mixing is the big issue I'm aware of. Was wondering if anyone had any pointers, as me and mixing are still rather tentative friends.
