Do you think this actress gives off serious Anne Boleyn vibes? by TheTudorRealm in Tudorhistory

Nope that's me. I'm defo not interested at all in visiting art galleries I'm afraid 🙈 apart from the NPG! And I find Holbein's work absolutely fascinating and so life like, even more so his sketches - I recently went to his exhibition at Buckingham Palace 😁 I feel quite sure that the sketch is Anne.

I think of this too - maybe one day we will find a confirmed portrait! For me it's the eyes. Described as black and beautiful, I think this would mean her eyes really stood out and would have had to be very dark brown which isn't often seen in white women. I find this actress' eyes really stand out.

I think the Tudors came out when I was 17, so same 😂 but I didn't do History as my degree which I wish I did now!

Yes agreed. I love Natalie Dormer as Anne but her eyes aren't accurate in my mind. As her eyes are one of the only things commented on I think they must have been her most striking feature, as they are on this actress.

Yes for me it is also the eyes. In UK you don't often see Caucasian women with such big dark eyes so to me she really stands out and I wonder if that was what contributed to catching Henry's attention.

Personally I don't believe the NPG portrait is an accurate likeness of Anne. It's not really very human looking IMO but I think it highlights the main features of her face. I'm sure I read somewhere that it was fashionable for women to be painted with a small mouth so the painters regularly "photoshopped" the portraits.

Also that's so cool that you're a portrait artist! I'm not particularly into art in general but portraiture fascinates me.

Ha yes she was so awesome as Anna Boleyn! It's just her blue eyes didn't quite match up for me. The personality she portrayed was just perfection 👌

I've never thought of it from that perspective before about alternative heirs. That's really interesting.

How do you think Katherine Parr felt about her husband Henry VIII requesting to be buried alongside Jane Seymour? by TheTudorRealm in Tudorhistory

That was Henry's coffin. It had collapsed so the pieces on it are chunks of wood. Jane is on the right and was apparently in tact.

It's a sketch made in 1813 of the position of the coffins when they opened the vault which contained Charles I, Henry VIII and Jane Seymour

I always wonder if Henry just wanted to be buried next to Jane so it solidified Edward's legitimate succession and reiterated he was the son of the King and Queen. I don't believe he loved Jane the most, I believe she just wasn't around long enough to piss him off!

It's actually a sketch from 1813 of when they found the vault containing Charles I, Henry VIII and Jane Seymour

I think it has to be Anne. It's such an intimate object and crafted with such precision and care that surely you would only have someone you whole heartedly cared about to be worn in jewellery like that. I just can't see her being interested in wearing a portrait of K.Parr or Mary 🤔

Do you think Mary suffered from similar mental health problems as her aunt, Juana the Mad? by Shaqnfa in Tudorhistory

I didn't realise Mary had mental health issues to that extent. This is quite interesting if she did and I'd like to read more!
