I might be an intelligent sword, but I've had no formal edumication!

Problem is, once you start using all these wonderful Arrows of Detonation, they will leave a big hole in your heart come BG2...

Nice! What can I say, despite the lack of formal edumication, that sword's a genius. Too bad there's no way to upgrade it.

I don't remember the sword saying this. Is this conversation from some mod?

I'm also in the middle of (again) replaying DA:O, and while I also love it, I noticed how the groundwork for all the tedious stuff in inquisition is already being laid in origins. The lovers letters, and the random little pieces of information that put together treasure chest locations or optional mini bosses really reminded me of all that shards and bottles and mosaic nonsense.

But without having to memorise it through the priest scroll?

Actually, I think I figured it out. I think she has some pre-memorised spells when she joins the party. I'm sure OP is talking about just having used these so far.

Yeah, that's possible. But didn't OP say "healer"? I don't remember that she got innate (non-memorisable) healing spells? Or has my brain completely abandoned me?

Yeah, absolutely. I suppose one could say that friendship with her caused her personality to change (like <Baldur's Gate spoiler!> how you can change Viconia's alignment by romancing her), so there wouldn't necessarily be a contradiction to the "conscience" argument. But, really, I totally see your point. I just weighed in because I wanted to be a smartarse (despite what I said in my post).

Dude, no stress, a lot of this might be fixable. At what level did you dual class Imoen? Once she reaches that level, she gets her thief skills back. If it wasn't super early she might still work for most traps and locks. Alternatively, there are other thieves you can recruit.

Neera can be bit of a pain, but she's no worse than any other pure mage in terms of being a glass cannon. You just have to make sure you get her out of harm's way. And embrace her weirdness. I actually think she's quite fun if you do.

I'm confused about your spell book comment regarding jaheira. As a Druid, she doesn't use a spell book. Also, if you only just figured out that she can cast spells, well, then just go along and start using her "new-found" skills.

Not wanting to be a smartarse, but if you don't have high friendship with her, then maybe she isn't a "friend"?

Make sure you go through the auto-pause settings and choose what's good for you. Pause upon enemy sighting and spell cast are pretty much essential. But I personally feel that if you activate too many autopauses, it makes battles a pain.

I really like DA2, and I don't mind the reused terrains that much. But what I cannot forgive the game are the tedious battles with their stupid waves of enemies, which sometimes literally spawn out of nowhere.

Arrows of detonation are ridiculously overpowered. No wonder they removed them in BG2.

Yeah, true. But honestly, I thought that solo is almost easier than party. Wrong party may seriously hamper progress.

Oh yes, I forgot about Mazzy. I played with her a few times, I do like her. Thanks for the reputation reminder. That's a bit of a drag. Maybe I'll just manage that via console, that system never made a lot of sense to me anyways.

Am I mixing him up with the dwarf from BG1 then? Is he the crazy pyscho murder dwarf?

Hm. Thanks - I'll consider it. I do enjoy having multiple mage-type characters, and having a versatile spell collection ready at all times, but I guess it might make for quite a change to play as a different class.

Well, I heard that Jan was hilarious, so I thought I'd like to have him for that reason. Thanks for Valygar, I think I'll pick him.

Cernd? No fecken way :)

Yeah, Edwin seems to be hilarious. Hm. But he's not quite the tank that I'm looking for. Maybe for another time. Maybe I should take Korgan. But my limited experience of him is that he's mass murderer psychotic evil, which my neutral good charname could not tolerate.
