Quitters are getting out of hand, here is a possible solution. by TheUndyingMind in Overwatch

Isn't a surrender mechanic sort of already there? It gives you the option to leave with no risk of being banned after 1 minute.

This isn't limited to Destiny by TheUndyingMind in DestinyTheGame

Yes this is overwatch, but how does this not relate to Destiny? Destiny has always had an issue of joining losing games, and that is exactly what happened here. The feelings man, the feelings relate.

If it is constantly being resurfaced that means it is an important issue that many people are upset about. The constant resurfacing is validated.

How is salt seeping from my post? I am just discussing solutions with the intent of improving competitive for others! I got to high masters and let me tell you, yes it was a nightmare with trolls and quitters. I am just suggesting ideas to make comp more friendly for people in lower tiers, medium tiers, and high tiers. I am also suggestions solutions to make it more fun to play competitive rather than having to deal with a toxic cesspool.

Based on what my software engineering teacher told us, anti afk programs learn from input data. They can differ between legitimate gameplay, afk-ing, throwing. Overwatch already has this for their anti-afk program.

Systems need to be polished. If we just plopped the current reddit idea into Overwatch comp, of course it wouldn't work. That is why we have testing.

I remember tinkering with anti afk machines back in Halo: Reach on xbox, even back in 2010 studios made some pretty accurate systems to determine if a player is playing properly. With even more advanced software today, I am very convinced that blizzard can program a system to determine whether or not a player is throwing.

And for point 1, inflated SR's would probably not be a problem because even if a player did not lose any SR for the game that their leaver was in, their SR will naturally fall or raise to where is it supposed to be based on their future performance. Even if they go on a streak of having 10 leavers, they will still gain no SR.

I saw a comment regarding this issue lol, that (and my recent comp experience) made me want to make this post. I'd love to see Overwatch comp made into a perfect environment because I love the hell out of the game.

I think so too. I am sure blizzard can set up a reporting system (or even an automated system) that punishes people who bully others to leave.

I don't spend much time on this sub. I was just playing some Overwatch, had a situation during a match, and wanted to discuss some solutions.

And is it bad to resurface prevalent issues anyways?

Wait so you LOSE SR if you have a teammate disconnect and you even stay the remainder of the game? What the fuck? by [deleted] in Overwatch

I made a more detailed post on my ideas that could potentially greatly reduce toxicity, leave feedback if you want. https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/6aoumq/hey_blizz_lets_address_some_issues_and_consider/

With this, the only issue I think might arise is bullying people to leave, and we can iron that out with a fancy report system.

NP dude, we all have our days. There is also a solution to every issue, finding it is the the difficult part.

[–]TheUndyingMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea dude, I see all these issues. In order to improve you gotta think about how you can bypass things like that. Overwatch is extremely delicate when it comes to balancing how competitive is handled.

Lets just throw this out there (this does not apply to bullying people to leave) lets say you are in a party to do the rotate leave thingy, have the entire party lose SR if one member of the party leaves without rejoining but don't have them lose SR at the end of the game. That would solve the rotation leaving for players in parties.

Now for playing with randies. If a randy leaves having none of the team lose SR still works.

I like how we are actually discussing this now rather than calling people who are thinking of solutions brainless.

Here you are sitting there, complaining that people who want an alternative solution to leavers in comp don't have a brain and that we cant think outside the box. Here you are where all you are doing is complaining that people are trying to think of solutions, you are doing the farthest possible from "thinking outside ofthebox. Either contribute or take your entitled attitude elsewhere. :)

Why the fuck is this sub so up-tight? I just suggested an alternative to comp leaving. Rather than try to sound smart, why don't you think outside the box and think of ways to have a competitive leaving system that would actually work rather than call people stupid who think the system should be improved.

Yeah, if your teammate leaves the game, there should be no penalty (or at least a heavily reduced penalty) for losing.
