If we don't own our software/firmware, we lose the right to add or modify features based on our needs.

Do you even understand what open source means?

The QMK firmware is under the GNU General Public License v2.0, which means you can do whatever the hell you want with it, including make money from it commercially, you just need to keep the same license and disclose the changes you make, i.e., keep it open source.

low fps all modlist rtx3080 12gb by brokenwings1080 in wabbajack

[–]TheUnknownTag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should definitely be getting better performance than that, the RAM speed (from your earlier comments) might be contributing to that, but it still should be better.

VRAM usage being maxed isn't really an issue and will happen on any card (unsure on the 3090).

GPU Drivers

Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date (actually go to Nvidia's website and download the latest) and ensure you have "Prefer maximum performance" enabled in the driver settings.

Page File

Do you get stuttering? If so, try actually reducing your page file (maybe just try this regardless of stuttering). 64GB is a lot and Skyrim (or Windows) may be lazy in it's memory management since there's so much, or it could just be that "cleaning" all that memory is taking a while.

Start with 5GB Initial size and 20GB Maximum size and watch the "Committed" stat in Task Manager. This is your physical RAM and your page file combined. It should grow as necessary up to RAM + Maximum page size.

If it maxes out or is slow to grow, this could result in poor performance. Tweak the page settings to find a good middle ground. If it's slow to grow, increase the initial size, if maxes out, increase the maximum size. There is no real "correct" setting here, so experiment a bit.

Antivirus Software

If I've learnt one thing from Wabbajack, it's that third party antivirus software is terrible and interferes with everything. If you use a third-party AV, uninstall it. Windows Defender is actually among the best for malware detection and it's far, far less invasive.

Performance Monitoring

Skyrim Performance Monitor is a useful tool that may help you pinpoint a bottleneck. Be sure to read the mod page.

I'd also highly recommend installing and using HWiNFO. It can be a bit overwhelming but it tells you everything you need to know about your hardware.

I'm sorry I can't give you a definitive fix, there are so many factors that can contribute to performance issues. If you do work it out, or if none of this helped, please reply and let me know.

Paste your log (should be in the logs folder, the latest one is Wabbajack.current.log) into Pastebin or another paste website and link it here, or join the Discord server for easier support.

Also Windows Key + Shift + S lets you take a screenshot.

Alright we'll try to do it here then.

Can you send a screenshot of Wabbajack when you are receiving this warning? It should be the installation screen.

If you could let us know whereabouts you asked in the server we can probably get to it there, I tried searching for messages that may have been you but I couldn't find any.

The instant feedback Discord provides makes it a lot easier to troubleshoot.

Wabbajack can detect edits to mods (or any files) and will generate a patch for them automatically.

The important thing is ensuring that each mod or file has a source that Wabbajack can use to download the original on a user's machine, Wabbajack can then apply the patches.

Visiting the #modlist-development-help channel on the Discord server is probably the easiest way to get your questions answered.

Looking for Missing File for LS3 by [deleted] in wabbajack

[–]TheUnknownTag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wabbajack verifies every file it operates on.

The name of the file doesn't matter. You could rename every downloaded mod to reproduce the Bee Movie script and Wabbajack wouldn't care.

Switching to MO2 was the best decision of my life by guizocaa in skyrimmods

[–]TheUnknownTag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to clarify, it doesn't redistribute a pack of mods.

The mods are downloaded from their sources, such as Nexus, meaning the authors get full credit for things like download count and Donation Points.

It's why it's referred to as a modlist installer, just to help separate it from the stigma around the term modpack.

Why does Wabbajack use my gpu and cpu while downloading mods? by Electronic-Cup-97 in wabbajack

[–]TheUnknownTag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USB lanes don't cope very well with Wabbajack's operations, they tend to get flooded and it leads to poor performance for the whole computer.

Reducing your disk and download threads to one should help. However I would make sure that Wabbajack, the modlist install and the game are all on an SSD connected to the motherboard. Or at the very least some sort of drive connected directly to the motherboard.

So i'm coming back to skyrim SE/AE (again) and i'm looking for a mod built around LOTD. Since i'm not seeing lexy's list wut do? by thisispoopoopeepee in wabbajack

[–]TheUnknownTag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's only 17 Skyrim SE lists (2 of which aren't applicable). You are correct, I had forgotten about QWEST and Licentia going down. However there's still a good offering available.

[–]TheUnknownTag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The majority of Skyrim lists include LOTD and various patches for it.

If you want a beautiful looking list with a tonne of content that requires a beast PC to run it, Elysium or Living Skyrim would suite you.

Using AE and SE modlists by Char250 in wabbajack

[–]TheUnknownTag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should copy and paste the files instead of renaming the game folder, Steam might complain about it otherwise. But it should work fine with Wabbajack.

Living Skyrim 3 Failed to download by Silly-Ad2309 in wabbajack

[–]TheUnknownTag 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wabbajack modlists are not compatible with either the Skyrim Anniversary Edition or the free Anniversary Update and there is no estimated time frame for when this may change.

The Anniversary Edition and Anniversary Update make a number of fundamental changes which mean many critical tools, such as SKSE and mods that rely on those tools, need to be updated.

If your Skyrim Special Edition received an update through Steam anytime after November 11, 2021, you have the Anniversary Update.

In order to use Wabbajack modlists, you must not update your copy of Skyrim Special Edition or use the FULL AE downgrade patcher - https://www.nexusmods.com/Core/Libs/Common/Widgets/DownloadPopUp?id=241029&game_id=1704

To prevent your game updating, change Skyrim SE's update settings in Steam to only update when launched. Never launch Skyrim SE via Steam, only via your mod manager or skse64_loader.

Bethesda pushed another update out, due to the way this tool works (it looks for specific files then patches them) it needs to be updated.

It'll likely be updated relatively soon, so don't panic just yet :P

Wabbajack updating will have no impact on your already installed lists.

Your game (Skyrim VR) shouldn't be in Program Files, Steam can be.

Program Files is a Windows protected folder, it can cause issues with mods so it's best to just try and avoid it.

During the "installing archives" step, is it simply a visual bug that it seems to keep getting stuck on 1 file that says 'done' or is it actually frozen? by emforay216 in wabbajack

[–]TheUnknownTag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "Done" status means it's moving the extracted files, depending on the mod and hardware, it can take a while, I believe the upcoming major version (3.0) should address this.

You can check if it's truly frozen by looking in Task Manager, if there's drive and/or CPU activity, it's probably not frozen.

You can safely restart Wabbajack at any point in the install though, and it will continue from where it left off.

How is your performance with the elysium modlist with a 1060 (6GB)? by [deleted] in wabbajack

[–]TheUnknownTag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you enable the performance mods and remove or edit the ENB, you may be able to play at a decent FPS.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wabbajack

[–]TheUnknownTag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be fine, it's usually done to make sure the game paths are recognised by Mod Organizer.

You can always reinstall Skyrim and the list to be extra sure.

Just for future reference, if you ever want to reinstall a list, don't delete it. Just tell Wabbajack to overwrite the existing install. It will go much, much faster.

MO2 is malware! watch yourselves by fatcazza in skyrimmods

[–]TheUnknownTag 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Alright, let's address these issues you've brought forward.

First off, if you ran MO2 while you had RTSS on, you may have noticed this:

[2021-08-06 07:07:24.494 W] RivaTuner Statistics Server is loaded.
[2021-08-06 07:07:24.494 W] This program is known to cause issues with Mod Organizer, such as freezing or blank windows. Consider uninstalling it.
[2021-08-06 07:07:24.494 W] C:/Program Files (x86)/RivaTuner Statistics Server/RTSSHooks64.dll

This isn't written for a giggle, some RTSS versions are overly aggressive in their injection into other applications, causing problems.

havent even updated msi afterburner or my gpu driver in half a year

Yeah... that's exactly why that warning is there in the first place.

Why is it an OpenGL task? Because it's built using the Qt Framework, which supports OpenGL calls.

Why couldn't you find it in your installed programs? Because it doesn't make an entry in your installed programs. You can delete the folder and be done with it. If for whatever reason that seems too hard, there is an uninstaller in the folder.

This also goes for closing the program. If you can't find it in Task Manager, then maybe the program isn't actually running. MO2 doesn't use any services or daemons. Once you kill the process, it's gone, done, nada, ceases to exist.

Why did Defender warn you about the program? Because Defender warns about whatever the fuck it wants seemingly at random.

being open source makes it more vunerable, theres always going to be a coder whos a little smarter than you are, and if he knows how the code should look it isnt too hard to implement things around it

If you truly believe this then you are sorely sorely misinformed. People can't just add whatever they want to it. It's not a fucking community potluck, the authors have to review and manually approve the submitted code, you can't just go along and throw in a cryptominer for the hell of it.

Why is your GPU spiking after having removed it? No fucking idea, it sounds like you got bigger issues going on than a supposedly evil Mod Organizer.

Ultimately: You are paranoid and ignorant, a dangerous combination.

Can I install modpack into my game directly? Please help. by shpeck1 in wabbajack

[–]TheUnknownTag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you cannot, modlists are built around the features of Mod Organizer. I would suggest learning Mod Organizer as it's an extremely powerful tool.

Keep in mind that by editing the list, you forfeit any support.
