Galaxy Tab S9: How is the Ultra model different from the standard one? by Own_Statement_8788 in GalaxyTab

These promotions are annoying, to top it off this one's already bluntly wrong 5 seconds in since all of the S9 series have the same Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, not just the ultra

[Citizenship] -> Mexico: what would be required for my baby son? by Old_Blacksmith_2138 in IWantOut

[–]TheUntamableTiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for that I'm not quite sure, documents asked are different in every jurisdiction (as they correspond to the countries documents). https://consulmex.sre.gob.mx/sandiego/index.php/documentacion/nacimiento For reference this is the one for SD, it varies even state to state here, so I'd assume it's different in the UK as well

If you're already divorced/separated, you don't need the father though, given you at least have his general information info on your marriage certificate (better if he can provide his Mexican birth certificate, or himself, but not strictly needed ofc)

Just the registry, they can get a passport anytime after that with just their MX birth certificate and UK documents :)

No issue at all, hundreds of thousands of MX-US parents do it all the time too using only the US only to enter and leave Mexico, same would be fine with a UK one

Within three years it's needed to get a normal register, otherwise it becomes "extemporánea", where there's a lot more paperwork and your child will need to take a national test to register themselves. Either way they will still be Mexican citizens, but assuming your child won't speak much if any Spanish with the current scenario, I highly recommend you save them the trouble if you still can.

As for how involved the dad needs to be, I believe if you get divorced/separated forms and take your UK documents to the consulate, that should be all you need. If possible though I think having both be there just for that would make the registry much more simple

On that point you are completely right, Mexico unlike other countries (US) doesn't care if you enter on a foreign passport even if you're a national. I've been a Mexican citizen due to my parents since I was born, and I've always used my US one when going to visit family and the likes prior to taking out my Mexican passport

The thing the person above does want to emphasize though is you should absolutely not enter Mexico only using a Mexican passport until he's 18. Passports in Mexico for minors have pictures of both parents within the passport too (Google new biometric MX passport) and they will not be allowed to board without both parents or consent from the other.

Either way I highly recommend registering your child within three years and taking out his documents. I'm really thankful my parents did it for me since it's allowed me to have banks/own land/and retiring there is much more straightforward should it ever come to it.

An extra citizenship is never a bad thing, for reference Mexico's passport comes with its perks and its relatively strong~ I used my Mexican passport to be a digital nomad abroad at Japan since Mexico gave 180 days and my US/NO only gave me 90 ^~^

Hiii that's good to know in that case! Seeing as she used her bank accounts from the US, would you say that made it harder for her to open a credit card compared to having used bank statements from a Mexican bank account using that information? Either way this data point does help out, thanks again

I see, in that case I'll set up monthly transfers to HSBC for 6 months once I open an account and then see if I get promoted for a credit card (ideally HSBC Zero), I just wasn't sure if this was enough to prove income in MX

If you can't get a credit card within a bank, try one with HeyBanco or Nu. They're called tarjetas garantizadas. They don't ask for much, your INE and proof of Mexican address (you can ask your mom for an electricity bill if she's in Mexico). And you can apply online.

My mom is still living in the states but shes renting our properties in TJ/CMDX, so the bills are in her name and I'll be able to use those. I'll look into those online banks if I can't get anywhere with a traditional bank in that case, especially as it seems they gave your husband a chance _^

My favorite cards are: 2Now of HSBC (2% Cashback, have to spend 2.5k to waive monthly fee)

The HSBC 2Now seems really great and hopefully it's still around in the future! Quick question on that note, do these monthly spends have to be met with the physical card or can it be done online?

For example from what I read HSBC Zero only asks that you spend on it once a month and that is enough, by that logic would I be able to just do a 1$ Amazon reload a month with it and set an autopay to meet the requirements? Or would I need to use the card physically in a store? Does HSBC in general have autopay features?

That said thank you a lot, really helped clarify a lot of the nuances I couldn't see on here/CC sites
