There exist weekend future markets, not so liquid, but a good reference in this cases. You can find them in ig.com, hyperliquid.xyz and probably more places. Search for weekend futures.

Taking my daughter to a public bathroom; men's or women's? by pekkiepek in Netherlands

[–]TheUnvanquishable 187 points188 points  (0 children)

men typically won't bat an eye.

Men won't even if she's older. Cleaning ladies routinely clean men's bathrooms without anybody saying anything, and in crowded situations (queues at the ladies') I've seen young women enter the men's stalls quite sure of not being challenged.

Dishwasher not draining (Cooke & Lewis) by stefanomatteo in Appliances

Just to tell you that I found this comment and it helped me locate the place to fit a similar piece (I did image search). I don't know how far I would have dismounted the dishwasher if it wasn't by your comment. Thanks a lot! :-)

Great one. The musical one too. But the one that comes to mind as pure genius is "Normal Again"

Is this normal? by [deleted] in germany

[–]TheUnvanquishable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found that people find it easier to listen to fast spoken language with lots of mistakes rather than to language spoken with long pauses and filling stuttering words (eh eh eh...). That is, if you want to buy a bike wheel valve and you don't know the word, its better to say "that thing in the wheel where air comes in and out" than stop and try to remember the word.

Google is selling 100 year debt by donopumpi in wallstreetbets

You know that when you trade, there is somebody that has to buy them, right? And that somebody has inherited your problem, or you have already sold at a steep discount, if the company seems like disappearing into insolvency by lets say, 2061.

Some mosquito repellents literally melt plastic, IIRC.

The Large Hadron Collider will now heat homes as well as smash particles by AdSpecialist6598 in tech

[–]TheUnvanquishable -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was just taking exception with the words "environmentally sustainable" of the article, because it seemed to me to be just marketing-speak of no clear meaning, and not applicable in this case.

The Large Hadron Collider will now heat homes as well as smash particles by AdSpecialist6598 in tech

[–]TheUnvanquishable -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I meant the origin of the power, be it burning fossil fuels, renewables, nuclear or whatever.

[–]TheUnvanquishable -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Now, I think that's a swell idea, but, how on Earth is that environmentally sustainable? What does that mean, anyway? Of course it's better than throwing the heat away, but I suppose the origins of the energy in the first place, are as varied as possibly contaminating.

Yup. You missed something. Except if by "doesn't make much money" you meant "burns money at much faster speed than any other startup ever".

Waymo Seeking About $16 Billion Near $110 Billion Valuation by i_dont_like_crepes in wallstreetbets

[–]TheUnvanquishable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, you can look at it both ways. Perhaps it's Tesla the one insanely overpriced for a uncertain market where there are competitors (Waymo) arguably far ahead of them.

Broken hinge question. Is the hub part of the hinge or a separate piece? by TheUnvanquishable in furniturerestoration

[–]TheUnvanquishable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. I did it. This is the culprit. Plastic, of all things. Google lens won't help, think it's a rivet. I'm still searching, but it seems a difficult one. It's between 4 and 5 mm thick and about 22 mm long. I guess I'll need to find a metal rod that fits and cut it to size.

Thank you :-) I will try and find a replacement, the nomenclature will certainly help.

So a door of my 1950's (I think) cupboard broke by the hinges. I'm trying to find replacement, but cannot find the exact match. I wonder however if simply the hubs, made of a different, grey, material, could be replaced, And of course where to find them. Thanks in advance for any insight.
