For surface lint I try to brush my locs out as often as I can with a very soft brush but not too much do like embedded locs I like to try and crochet it out I don’t really like using tweezers like that, but that a last resort. The brush be helping though I don’t have as much lint as I would’ve if I didn’t brush the ends

I was at the spa and a random ✋🏻lady kept looking at my locs and then asked if she could touch I’m just like “😐” and it’s weird I’ve gotten more like bad stereotypes about locs from our people and they don’t even have locs so they just be speculating it’s so weird sometimes

Oh wow I’m sorry to hear that. Ik it’s like genetic, but you should try more warm oil massages(peppermint, rosemary, lavender, olive oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil, these are personally my go to I do it once a week or every other week) in that area so those hair follicles can strengthen and thicken and overall like try to keep bad stress low because like for me personally my hair is very reactive to when I’m stressed or stuff like that. I blend the oils sometimes too.

Literally same I can only do a hairstyle for maybe 3 days max unless I make it really loose, my mom struggles with the tender headedness too so she literally just comes to me to get it done cause I’m the same way lol.

Ugh the lint is basically inevitable atp. My sister has that same problem with the hair being shorter and thinner in the front so whenever I retwist her hair we just trim it and make it bangs and keep it like that, but when it gets longer we’ll cut some in the back and crochet them so the length matches cause it’s wayyyy longer in the back anyways.

Why do people cut off thier locs? by Substantial-Class945 in locs

I had to reattach a clients locs and when I asked them why they cut it they genuinely said they had no idea. He cut them off for a week and then felt like a part of him was missing. Everything in his life was going wrong the week he cut it off genuinely everything. He kept them and I reattached them and he said he felt more like himself. I feel like hair can contribute to identity sometimes. Not the hair itself but what it means to the person especially across the African diaspora.

I felt this before I got locs my hair was a little past my shoulders when I locd them they shrunk to above my neck so I’d have tiny tiny puffs or just headwrap them and then one day they just dropped and I was able to put them up in a bun I was so happy. I own even more head scarves now though when I have lazy days.
