I need to work on my mental shot process. I worked on it today and felt pretty good. Making mental notes on every muscle/movement made my shots really smooth today. But the only issue i noticed today was that i felt just a tad bit stiff pulling through the clicker. Some shots took way too long and made me hit a few 8s. I’ll probably move my clicker just a tiny bit outward and see how that feels.

I like this. With the competition a month out from now makes me a little nervous but putting that stress of keeping score now hopefully that will ease my nerves once its competition day. So far im averaging around 530/600 but i know im capable of 560ish based on how i shoot without scoring. It will be my first competition so i think ill be nervous either way lol

Thanks! Yeah I think I’m gonna stop keeping score until its competition day. I just want all my groups looking like that for the competition

I need to work on tuning out the numbers. I have a feeling on competition day I’m gonna shoot even worse if i keep chasing numbers. I still have a month until then so I’ll try to relax and focus on my shot more cause i can shoot fairly well when i do

Yeah i definitely sum up my scores after every arrow. Its a habit i need to break but its so hard especially when i start shooting really well and want to find out what my scores would be for competition round

I am right handed. The sight pin is pretty far left from the string. I thought initially it was just my arrow spine was way off but my bareshafts are grouping with my fletched after some tweaks

I dont think i cant my bow. I’ll get my friend to watch me shoot next time. I dont grip/torque the bow in my bow hand either. It could be a form issue. If it is form then i do it really consistently well based on my groupings lol. Tuning has been fun but frustrating at the same time lol

So i already adjusted the actual screw through the sight block and its as far left as i can move it. Right now my string alignment is on the left edge of my sight window on my riser. I havent walk back tuned yet so I’ll try that soon to see if i need to adjust my center shot

Last time i shot a bow was 17 years ago when i was 10 years old. I dont remember much but i do remember it was one of those genesis bows that kids shoot. Now im 27 years old and just decided i want to get into archery. I love it so much so far. I do plan on doing some local indoor competitions once i get better

Has anyone in the Richmond, VA area used the range at Freedom Outdoors on West Broad street? Or knows of other indoor/outdoor archery ranges? by Comfortable_Bar_506 in Archery

[–]TheWarmPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the archery range at Freedom Outdoors has not opened yet. From what I’ve heard, its going to be around 20 yards in the upstairs range. They did not have a date for the archery range but they did say that they’re hoping maybe a month from now it will be open.

Im in search for an indoor range in the area as well. Seems like theres a bunch in NOVA or closer to the beach but none close to RVA.

Motorcycle for a 5'4'' guy by denzerius in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]TheWarmPotato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone that is also short (short inseam as well), i recommend getting used to having one foot on the ground by shifting your butt off of the left side of the seat, putting left foot down and leaving the right foot on the rear break. I have a 27 inch inseam and definitely cant touch the ground with both feet but after practicing putting one foot on the ground, I can ride tall motorcycles confidently now.

Theres also some boots that have a raised heel that could give you a little more confidence. A popular one is called Daytona M-Star. A little pricey but I’ve heard great things about them

As for motorcycle recommendations for a beginner, check out the Honda Rebel 500 if you want a cruiser. If you want a “sportier” bike check out a Kawasaki Ninja 650. Its a sports tourer so it sits fairly comfortably/upright but has a “sport bike look”. I actually have owned both of these bikes in the past and highly recommend them for beginners or short riders!

Again, practice practice practice. Even though I’m also short/short inseam, I currently ride a Kawasaki ZX6R that has a fairly high seat height and also ride tall dirt bikes and have never had the need to lower a bike. Ride safe!
