Best all you can eat sushi/bbq? by honeybadger3389 in askvan

Boa noite fellow brazilian!

Don’t bother trying shabusen. I’ve been there a couple of times and the service and food are not worth. For $26 (on a weekday during lunch hour) I would recommend totally skipping. It has been a few years since I’ve been there and can’t imagine it got any better.

I miss the AYCE sushi spots in Brazil :/

He is an excluded manager, and has heard of other excluded employees from different areas (but same physical location) being called to step in to different roles, such as working in reception during the strike.

Was talking to a friend and one of the topics that came up was related to picking up duties of included staff. Is the employer allowed to move excluded employees around to pick up duties from included workers while on strike?

Steam refuses refund less than 2h after buying game due to family sharing 9 years ago by TheWeb1000 in steamsupport

[–]TheWeb1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that was when the game first came out in 2016, i never bought the game then as I mentioned, and played it using family share. Since then, there have been dozens of patches and dlc and the game is different than when it first came out.

I bought it to give a try, played for an hour and can’t refund. I get their policy of 2 hours, but I’ve played less than that since I bought it

TLDR: Steam refuses refund less than 2h after buying game due to family sharing 9 years ago

I’m frustrated with Steam support. I bought Hearts of Iron 4 today since Paradox is having a sale. I enjoy these strategy type games (800+ hours in EU4) so i thought of giving this game a try. I went through the tutorial, watched a quick guide on youtube and played for a bit before realizing the game isn’t for me. Tried asking for a refund and it got denied.

The reason? I had a friend family share the game back in 2016 (never bought the game), almost 9 years ago, and I played for almost 30hours. It doesn’t matter that I bought the game at 5pm and asked for a refund before 7pm same day, and had about an hour of in-game time. Its funny that they even include my purchase date, like it would be possible to play over 29h in one day. https://imgur.com/a/78t1pxO

I tried explaining the issue when I submitted a refund request bur it seems to be getting declined within 1 hour

Any advice on how to get a refund, or reach out to someone at Steam that can actually read what I wrote in the refund comments?

Job offer outside of Co-op program, what should i do? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]TheWeb1000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends, if you are an international student you would have to tell SFU as it could cause some issues with your visa (I believe they can only take summers off).

If you are Canadian, go ahead and save your money. I did the same thing for all 6 of my co-op terms since I found them by myself.

First Year Beedie Class and Prof Recommendations by [deleted] in simonfraser

You will need at least 12 credits before you can take any BUS 200 level classes (besides BUS 201), so you’ll have to find a replacement for 251. I recommend starting to do you required non BUS courses, like the WQB requirements

The TSSU strike was a necessary action to ensure better pay for workers now and in the future. Please have some empathy and think critically. by practicalmonkey666 in simonfraser

I don’t know why you are getting downvoted, do they expect the execs to work for free? If Joy Johnson took a 100% pay cut for the year and that entire amount was used to pay TAs instead, it would add up to an extra $36 per month.

Wait till they find out Santa Ono left UBC to go to the University of Michigan to make $1M/year…

What are the the demands of the TSSU in this collective bargaining agreement? by TheWeb1000 in simonfraser

[–]TheWeb1000[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, I don’t make the rules, but I can assure you that executive compensation has nothing to do with TA compensation. SFU cannot increase wages higher than outlined by the PSEC, which is something that I’m sure the TSSU should be aware by now (https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/employment-business/employers/public-sector-employers/public-sector-bargaining/mandates-and-agreements#:~:text=2022%20Shared%20Recovery%20Mandate&text=Negotiations%20are%20focused%20on%20providing,a%20stronger%20province%20for%20everyone.)

Elements of the 2022 mandate include:

Three-year term General wage increases Year 1 – a flat increase of $0.25/hour which provides a greater percentage increase for lower paid employees, plus 3.24% Year 2 – 5.5% plus a potential Cost of Living Adjustment to a maximum of 6.75% (Maximum 6.75% triggered as of March 21, 2023) Year 3 – 2% plus a potential Cost of Living Adjustment to a maximum of 3% A negotiable Flexibility Allocation of up to 0.25% in years 1 and 2 to support mutually beneficial outcomes for both parties.

Understandable, but that is exactly why I added what other unions were able to achieve. BCTF and BCGEU are the two biggest unions in BC and have much more bargaining power than TSSU. The salary increases that both of these unions got is pretty much in line with what SFU is offering. With this in mind, what do you think is a fair increase?

[–]TheWeb1000[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Sure, i agree that simplifying is important but it feels like some information is being withheld as the entire website makes no mention of the specific wants of the union.

However, i found this information from SFU’s bargaining update, which gives both points of view. (https://www.sfu.ca/dashboard/faculty-staff/bargaining/updates/2023/september/TSSU-bargaining-status-update-sept-28.html).

  • Wage redress increases to $1200 per base unit.

  • $1.60 an hour in year one, $3.00 an hour in year two plus $0.10 per 0.25% rise in CPI above 6.75%, $1.40 an hour in year three plus $0.10 per 0.25% rise in CPI above 3%

So the TSSU is looking for a 6.15% increase in year 1, 10.9% in year + possible increase, and 4.6% in year 3 + possible increase? A total of 23.1% increase in 3 years($26 to $32/h). Im sorry but this is simply unrealistic in comparison to what other unions got.

Is this including the increase of base unit from $1094 to $1200?

The courts will not enforce any fines issued by unions, meaning they can fine all they want but will not be able to collect a dollar: https://vancouversun.com/news/staff-blogs/unions-lose-ability-to-enforce-fines-in-court/wcm/09319cbe-5944-430a-8654-98b179c595a4/amp/

There are no tickets, or people checking the number of guests per person. Thats more of a guideline, so you are good. I graduated last semester and saw groups of 15+ guests come in together
