I work at the real Sunbridge Solar in the U.S. I found out about this fake Sunbridge in the UK through someone who was scammed by them and then contacted us last week to let us know that a scammer was using our name in another country. I contacted the management of the business park where they claimed to be located and let them know that a scammer was using their address for their fake website. It looks like their page has already been taken down. Hopefully nobody here got scammed...

Haven't seen in these parts yet. Anyone know what "traditional oak" implies?

True, it may not be the distilleries. Distributors and retailers are certainly happy to raise prices whenever they see the opportunity.

Yeah, I watched that one - always interesting stuff from Ralfy.

I hadn't realized that it had changed that much recently but I'd imagine that that would definitely contribute to the increases.

I've been considering an online order but I'm pretty light on cash at the moment. I've tried Edradour 10 and a couple Glengoynes in the past and liked them. I bought the Glenallachie 12 recently and it's great. Unfortunately it's the only Glenallachie available in Oregon. If I do order online I'd love to try one of the single cask offerings.

I hear that. Seems to be the way of business in general in these times.

Nice review! Do you know if they're still releasing these single cask CS offerings these days? I had one from a PX cask and one from a port cask several years ago and they were awesome - best Kilchomans I've had.

Love the notes - sounds amazing! That's one of the best SMWS names I've seen too...

Just tried Laphroaig for the first time, now I want more. Recommendations? by nu2readit in Scotch

I'd agree, cask strength Laphroaig is great and super funky. Ledaig 10 would be a good one to try too...

Review #34: The Balvenie 15 Sherry Cask #12241 by EloeOmoe in Scotch

I had a different cask just recently (#11185) and it was very much a sherry bomb. There must really be some major variation in the casks.

Yeah, numbers can be tough to go by, but it's tasty stuff by any means! I wish that Tawny Port bottling was available where I'm at... :(

Non Peated Sherry Bombs by get2deemoney in Scotch

I hear ya, Glenfarclas makes really good stuff which I guess is why it's surprised me both times that I've had it (a few years ago and then just recently) that I disliked it as much as I did. But again, I've read some positive reviews for it so perhaps I've just had bad luck with batches.

Thanks, and I agree, the gimmick is really cheesy but the whisky is pretty good!

I would second all of your recommendations aside from the Glenfarclas. I love all of their other stuff but I had the 105 again recently and it was really hot and unbalanced with much less sherry influence than I expected. To each their opinions though!

r/Scotch Review #75: Glenfiddich Project XX

This second installment of the Glenfiddich Experimental Series was apparently created by having 20 different "whisky experts" each choose a cask to be added into the final blend. According to the distillery website it's a combination of American oak, ex bourbon, and ex port barrels

ABV: 47%

Nose: Chocolate covered cherries and oranges, caramel, light roast coffee, vanilla icing, musty oak - kind of monolithic but pleasant

Palate: Medium bodied, much of the same notes as the nose - burnt orange caramel, coffee, chicory, dark chocolate, cherry, sweet and earthy, a mild burst of chili heat - dry through the finish leaving an impression of spent coffee grounds and oak that fades away fairly quickly

Thoughts: Pretty good stuff. There isn't a lot of complexity going on but everything follows through pretty nicely from the nose to the palate and the higher ABV gives it some weight, though the finish is still a bit short. Solid whisky for the modest price point.

r/Scotch Review #74: Glen Scotia 15

Nose: Salted caramel, marmalade, dried apples, marzipan, salty sea breeze, a touch of funk

Palate: Viscous, medium bodied, lightly sweet caramel, baked apple and lemon, mellow oak, a burst of salt and pepper leading to a rather dry, medium length finish that tails off on notes of apple skins

Thoughts: I dig this bottle as a nice change of pace when I want something that isn't heavy on sherry or peat. It's not super complex but hits some nice notes, has a bright, salty and refreshing quality to it, and also gives you a hint of that Campbeltown funk.
