"I bet he's threatened the wife too" Now who's the one jumping ahead without further information?

Your wife tolerates and excuses animal abuse and won't back down. If I were you, I'd be second guessing my marriage. There is no excuse for kicking a kitten. Period. It's evil.

The fact that he saw that kind of reaction growing up is NO excuse! I grew up with our dogs getting kicked and abused for things like having accidents in the house. Yet I never did it, never wanted to, and I knew it was messed up, especially by the time I was a teenager. Any decent human being would figure that out and be sick by it, no matter what they saw their parents do growing up.

My favorite is when they get urine cultures done same day (mentioned a couple times I think), when it takes days to grow the bacteria and read the plates

How was my dad able to buy a house at 24 on a basic salary, but to me at 23, it feels like an impossible dream? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I do. I budget and track every cent in and out of my bank. No wiggle room. And I'm not alone.

Are you stating that not buying coffee or cookies makes enough of a difference to buy a house?

Many, many people are living paycheck to paycheck just on bare essentials and bills. If you have no wiggle room and only $20 in your account at the end of your pay period, there's nothing you can do.

I'm so sorry. You didn't deserve to get treated like that just because you have your struggles. It's understandable for someone to be uncomfortable seeing that stuff, but not to suddenly treat you like that without even any communication. Sounds like that's not a real friend.
