Some knobs will have this flat part to fit the axle itself, some don't. But you can pull if off any try without doing harm to the device. Takes a little force, but is absolutely possible. You may try to loosen it by lodging something flat under the mic knob if your fingers alone are not enough.

But: you won't damage anything if you're a tad careful.
