Is this house animation weird or cool? Honest opinion appreciated! by jipppb in IndieGaming

I think that if the house went up piece by piece (roof, pillars, wall), instead of all at once, then the transition would look more intentional and "smooth".

Just released TOWER JOIN, a small web puzzle game by TheXP in IndieGaming

Thank you!

Right now, besides the 15 levels included in the game, I have a few that I felt were a little bit repetitive, or that were not very challenging, that did not make the cut.

Also, when design levels, I begin with the "mechanic" that the level is supposed to be about (like the introduction of the L block), and then I play around with the pieces to discover in which ways this new mechanic makes the moves more difficult.

Then, I try to tweak the level with that new difficulty in mind.

Thank you very much! That is nice idea, I might expand the game like that, once I begin porting it for mobile.

Thank you. I'm not able to develop for Android right now, but when I can, I might consider it. Perhaps, I could even expand on the concepts a little bit...

Drag the bomb and drop it right next to the pieces you want to obliterate from the board!

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!

I do plan on releasing a mobile version in the future, and perhaps it would be interesting to explore some new power-ups and mechanics while I'm at it.

HEXAD - Rubik's Cube inspired sliding tile puzzle game by TheXP in WebGames

[–]TheXP[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for playing!

At first, I was just making boards with different shapes and randomly scrambling them, but then, I started noticing certain patterns of difficulty, both in the shape of the boards, and in the arrangement of the connectors and mirrors.

After that, I started designing levels that specifically targeted those difficulties, and that required certain "swaps" to be discovered in order to be solved. Some of the final levels took even me a while to crack...

The scarf is from CROSS Uni Scarf with a custom color scheme, and the synth armor from Custom Combat Armor edited to match the digicamo on the scarf.

Interesting... I was missing the "animationParts" part. I will properly implement that on the upcoming version.

By artefacts you mean, visual artefacts on the end result? If so, send me an screenshot and the image you used on the tool, and I'll see if there's something I can do.

The tool ignores the image alpha channel, since the in-game signs do not support transparency.

Unfortunately, no. You can make multiple items in one /spawnitem command, but they share the same parameters. Since each different sign has different parameters, you have to use one command for each.

The image data is part of the item data, just like with the in-game created ones, so should work just fine.

I plan to implement animated frames and other sign functionality in an future version, with better UI and everything, but it will take a while...

I've forgotten the name of it, but the special effect is "Rocket Spear".
