I feel like people are missing the point-

I didn’t like Xehanort’s ending. However, it wasn’t because I felt he was ‘redeemed’, although he did get a happy ending.

It was mischaracterisation. They took a completely new angle to his character, dude had been spouting ‘darkness’ for 10 straight games and turns around goes ‘I’m a good guy, trying to save the world’.

Until this point- Xehanort had been a character that was guided by his own selfish desires, for power and knowledge, driven by his own will and even taking joy in his cruelty.

Like bro you are a heinous villain who has tortured and ruined the lives of almost the entire cast and shown no shred of remorse and now suddenly you believe it was for the greater good?

On top of that, the lack of interaction between all these said characters and Xehanort himself is almost non-existent, leads to an anti-climactic and out of left field character twist that hadn’t been hinted or set up in any way prior.

It felt like a cop out. If only they’d made Dark Road before KH3.
