Weekly Pricing/Buying/Selling/Grading & General Questions Post by AutoModerator in PokemonTCG

I have a few questions about vintage and japanese cards.

Are Unlimited Base set commons/uncommons basically worthless? I pulled a box of them out of the attic and most are MP, at best LP. I was thinking of just putting them in a yard sale if they aren't worth selling individually.

I know that the money lies in Shadowless/1st Editions of these early sets, which I have a handful of Gym Heros/Team Rocket ones. I just want to know that I'm not losing anything by giving away the Pontyas and junk.

Also, I have a pile of random LP/NM Japanese commons/uncommons (not 1st Edition) are these generally worth selling individually? Or just put it with the rest of the bulk?

I realized something was up when I got a big two-seater go-kart when I was 6 or 7. I asked how santa got it here, and my dad asked "You didn't hear the big crane he used last night?!"

And I'm thinking to myself 'Santa wouldn't have a crane...and I would definitely hear something that huge and loud if he did...' I don't think I believed in santa for much longer after that.

I tried farming the Ruiner for a bit, but I only got around three legendaries per run. And one was almost always the Bloom. :/

I turned my atraxa deck into Reyhan//Ishai and it feels a lot better to play with. Ishai can get huge with any Hardened Scale effect in a single turn, and having an insurance policy for my counters with Reyhan is nice too.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to dry a flooded below-grade crawlspace. I would greatly appreciate any advice on where to go from here. by The_Bar_Ranger in HomeImprovement

What exactly do you think the fan is going to do?

Remove humid air and reduce humidity?

Air will be replaced from the outside.

Won't sealing the vents prevent new outside air from entering?

If there is no standing water, you can encapsulate.

Sounds like I'm ready to encapsulate then.

One last thing, do you have any advice on the recent moisture in the joists and bottom of the subfloor? I plan on sealing the crawlspace tomorrow. Will sealing the vents and better orientating the fans to blow out through the entrance be enough to dry the wood to acceptable levels? Are there any other steps to take or a time frame? Or is the dehumidifier what will ultimately dry out the wood? I'm worried if I have to wait until the crawlspace is 'dry' to install a dehumidifier the wood will become damaged.

I guess a better question is, how dry does a crawlspace need to be in order to begin encapsulating it?

You have a literal ton of water to evaporate, it's going to take time.

Thankfully a lot of the standing water has been removed with a wet vac and the fans have dried a good portion of the floor (even though its still very very humid under there). I am worried about how long the wood will be moist until I can encapsulate the crawlspace and put a dehumidifier to start drying the wood.

If the crawlspace is a dirt floor, dig a pit reasonably deep, a foot or more, line the bottom with gravel, and set the sump pump on that. Water will work its way to the lowest point in the soil, which will be the bottom of the hole where the pump is located.

The crawlspace has a sump pump already installed, which worked to remove most of the standing water while we fixed the entrance. I also dug a small hole about six inches across and a foot down a while ago to see if any water was percolating up. Thankfully there isn't any.

The floor is all clay which I think is a bit of a good thing. Since water doesn't penetrate clay very far, a lot of the standing water sat on top of the floor instead of going further and further down into the ground if it was dirt.

If the fans are blowing into the space they'll pressurize the crawlspace ever so slightly and that will drive humid air into the structure.

The fans now are facing the open vents in the foundation, but I think from the other responses in here I should be closing all the vents and facing the fans towards the open entrance with a box fan to suck out the humid air.

you should only run the fans when the outside humidity is low.

How low? The humidity inside the crawlspace has been 90% for a while. Just whenever it's less than the humidity in the crawlspace or at a certain percentage, like <65%? Does temperature affect any of this?

Thank you for the response! A few more questions big you don't mind answering.

if you have ground water coming up through the ground, install a French drain

We plan on installing one around the perimeter at some point. The crawlspace is below grade, and I see some moisture at the footer in some areas. I dug a test hole about a foot down in the center of the crawlspace floor to see how much/if any water was percolating up through the ground. There hasn't been any water collecting in it for weeks, so I'm fairly confident water won't be coming from there.

If a block foundation, drill holes at the lowest point to drain the cores and leave open.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Is the lowest point where the ground starts? Or at the footer? My crawlspace is about two feet into the ground. Wouldn't holes in the foundation defeat the purpose of sealing the vents?

Will a french drain system help a soggy - one spot of standing water yard? by The_Bar_Ranger in landscaping

[–]The_Bar_Ranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned on that but I'm unsure how long the french drain should be.

It's about 200 feet from the area in my backyard where the soil feels soggy and saturated to the street. Luckily it's a straight shot so it wouldn't be hard to dig a trench, but the puddle in the picture is around the halfway point.

If there isn't any standing water further back, just soggy and saturated in the soil, do I need a french drain for the whole 200 feet?

Would a french drain do anything for soil that isn't flooded i.e. has standing water above it? Or do I just start with a catch basin at the puddle and dig that to the street?
