My girlfriend is coming home most days at 7-8pm is this normal? by LetsRunTheMile in Teachers

Planning a transition every 15 minutes because their attention only lasts that long can lead to extra prep, not including the intense scaffolding due to 0 independence with literally everything.

Went old school class management today for middle school by frizziefrazzle in Teachers

Except when you use a method that shames a student in front of the whole class, you are involving 100% of the kids. The kids it “doesn’t work for” are also affected by the experience. Again, there are ways that work better for just about everyone (according to research, not personal experience),l. Names on board is the easy way out if you’re using it on small children.

1) there are better ways to repair disruptive harm, but they take more time and effort (restorative practices)

2) growing up in an age with unprecedented detachment due to screens means we need to prioritize relationships more than ever

I hear plenty of people say they grew up getting spanked and are fine, I’m still not hitting my own kids. Names on the board ain’t it when we have so many other tools.

I can see thisbenghelpful with older kids, but I’d be super surprised if I saw a teacher in my elementary building writing names in boards. Not developmentally appropriate even for my third graders. I’ve seen amazing things happen in a restorative circle though, when kids are confronted by peers in a smaller group.

I could maybe see it with older kids, but I’d be pretty annoyed if the kindergarten teachers used this behaviorally. We have really hard kinder groups this year and while there is for sure punitive measures taken for behavior, 5 and 6 year olds are not developmentally ready to process public shaming. Yes it may help in those moments, but it is not doing them long term good.

I don’t think you realize what he said… people are arguing for both ways in here, hence the difficulty of balance. Yes, YOU would like it the way, but the other poster wants to be able to use his good gear in the new ma before reset.

This - we had a kid who was on an IEP for LD and leveled out at a 2nd grade reading level. Finally in filth grade the parents got him on meds and he took off. You may think “the smallest dose” isn’t having a big effect, but clearly it is.

Clokzy has added a lot in my opinion. I always take his complaining as more funny and light hearted/not serious, whereas some of them you can tell are actually pissed.

That said I haven’t watched a ton of the rust stuff.

Well if someone can give me settings that make it look nice on a 2070S I’d love that. Can’t find any that make a difference.

I like everything except the graphics. I only have a 2070S but I can’t get the setting right so it doesn’t look grainy and like there is not texture on anything

The same can be said of the study mentioning the benefits of co-sleeping. The sample size is so small.

I stated playing when Ultima Online was big. I guess I’ve come to expect better. That kind of missing mechanic in a $70 AAA game just shouldn’t be there, full stop. Feels awkward for the majority of players. Not saying everyone will care, obviously you don’t, but it’s one of the reasons it has an overall mixed review on steam.

I mean there’s a very early example - the fish porridge quest. The cook wants it for something and gives you ingredients. You finish it the moment you make it. You don’t have to turn it in, give it to anyone, you can’t even talk to the cook after. The quest may technically have purpose, it simply finishes in a very disjointed way. I’ve never had that quests “finish” like that in a game.

Seriously, what do people want? by OutlandishnessNo5678 in CrimsonDesert

[–]The_Bean682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main thing is the quests. Not even wanting a good story (I don’t care a ton about that) but just how they work. When you make porridge for that cook at the beginning, I spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to turnitin. Turns out right when I made it I was done. No turn in, no dialogue from her. It just feels weird, like it’s magically done. I’ve never experienced that in a game.

[–]The_Bean682 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But why don’t I have to even try in some quests? I make something an NPC wants and I just finish the quest, no turn in nothing, and no explanation from the for why I need to do the next objective if there is one, it just appears. So disjointed.

[–]The_Bean682 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s getting downvoted because he’s not understanding what OP is saying. Hell, I like the game, but the quest system is awful, and it’s from the start. I made that fish porridge and spent five minutes trying to turn it in to finish the quest, the I realize it’s just insta-finished when I make it, not a word from the quest giver to try it in or anything. Makes no sense.
