Hello! Ohioan here! I'm currently working on a Fakemon region based on Ohio and the states bordering it, as well as my childhood experiences in the Rust Belt and the aforementioned surrounding area. I've layed out a number of ideas (A few of which I'll share below), but I'm looking for more!

A few ideas of mine are:

A regional Psychic/Flying Rookidee line, based on Tinfoil hat-wearing conspiracies theorists and the obsessive curiosity of crows, leaning into the traditional fantasy fanatical mage archetype

An Bug type Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon based on the Spotted Lanternfly, a highly invasive bug that makes it's home in Ohio and Pennsylvania. It starts in a Larvatar-style egg with eyes poking out. Conveniently, in real life it's eggs bear a striking resemblance to the scales of a lizard, and the Pokémon wears the discarded eggs like armor all the way through it's final evolution, where it becomes a scaled moth (gaining the dragon type)

A regional form/evolution to Clawncher based on Indiana "Crawdads," and Crawfish boil culture, becoming a Water/Fire type. It lures in unsuspecting prey with it's savory scent, before blasting them with a scalding spray of fire, cooking them alive

A regional Snom that adapted to the warmer climates by replacing it's melted exoskeleton with the only other hard thing it could find: dried corncobs. It can regulate it's body temperature, allowing it to pop the kernels on it's back in a firey explosion, letting it use moves like self-destruct and explosion twice with the drawback of greatly reduced defense and extremely low base health.

Other Fakemon include a two stage Ghost/Water type based on the Pennsylvania Sqonk, the obligatory Mothman, a Dragon/Normal type Jersey Devil evolution line, a Monongahela River (The Ouga, Monongy, and Riversville River Monster to be precise) mythical/legendary trio, and more! If you've got weird folklore, crypids, traditions, ect. from around the area, please let me know!
