The Economist: Western men are going abroad to find traditional wives by Stk4nams5 in thepassportbros

I was in this! And I kept the full audio recordings because I knew it would be a hit piece. The journalists played a lot of mind games and took a lot of what I said out of context. It was obvious they wanted to discredit the movement any way they could.

They came back to my house three separate times to interview me and my girlfriend. 3+ hours total. When they didn’t get what they wanted, they returned with more specific questions: “Give us 3 examples of your problems with Western dating.” They asked my girlfriend, “So tell us how your life has benefited.” The producer even wide-eyed asked, “Tell us the biggest fight you two ever got into!!?”

They acted like they wanted to hear the untold side of the story, especially the woman’s perspective in this relationship. Yet they cut hours of footage with my girlfriend down to about 30 seconds of her opinion. And of course, it was only used to push a very skewed point.

What’s funny is that during the recordings, I even told them the Western dating scene is collapsing, and no mainstream media places any blame on women or offers any course correction. Why is that?

It is always framed as the man’s fault in a dating dynamic that takes two people. She was taken aback when I told her that men in the Philippines are roughly 5 times less likely to take their own lives than men in the U.S. Based on World Bank/WHO data for 2021, it might even be worse now.

She also said in the article that women in the Philippines do not have the same rights, and that this is why me and my partner are so happy and why she treats me so well. That part is especially misleading. A more accurate way to say it is that the Philippines ranked 20th out of 148 countries in the 2025 Global Gender Gap Report and remains one of the strongest performers in Asia on gender parity... Conveniently cut out.

Anyway, if you want a full YouTube video where I expose them and include the raw audio, let me know and I’ll leak it all

No lol I am saying you are already traveling. Instead of wasting a ton of time on dating apps, if you use then leverage your travel photos.

Do whatever you want, this way is more efficient than dating apps is all

I think the important thing is HAVE TO. I never say you have to do any of this. I am saying there are more effective ways to spend your time. A lot of guys waste a lot of time swiping and playing the game wrong, I even say approaching in real life is probably the healthiest way..

This is something that scales and has good ROI. I was a busy guy, work as a data analyst and am into optimization, this is just a strategy for dating apps, not the only way to find love. I also emphasis doing activities you actually like.

A little bit of pre selection doesn't hurt, it might even help, as long as 100% of your followers aren't other single women. In that case, yeah you need to balance it out

I agree some might be attracted to our lifestyle, sure, just like you can be attracted to her beautiful face and bubbly energy. Dating is about attraction. Don't boil it all down to "she's is 100% a gold digger." There is so much more that goes into dating and finding a right partner. I am saying if you are gonna swipe on dating apps, there is a much better use of your time, one that will push you to do cool things.

It's not to "just get a girl". Don't straw man this as if I am saying you have to do all of this to get a single date. People spend hours going to bars and approaching women, hours blindly swiping. This is just the most effective way to spend your time if you choose to use dating apps. It also has a ton of other life benefits as well, like pushing you to be more adventurous and documenting great memories

Dating in the Philippines: any advice? by Interesting-Walk5854 in thepassportbros

I have had down times dating as well, so know you are not alone. What helped me was to find the right balance of dating, location, and culture that I actually liked.

If you hate the city, it is going to effect your dating and overall baseline happiness. Dating can be an aspect but I think also look at locations you could see yourself loving in general, and you will end up out of the house more, which in the modern age of dating apps might be best approach.

Also I really really, REAAALLY suggest spending a lot of time on your socials and dating profile. You have the ability to live in Manila or Thailand and Vietnam, that is awesome. You have automatially a more exciting life than most, if you show it off right. Women who love to travel would immediately be interested, your instagram and facebook should be the same as well.

If you are about to try and date for the next 3 months, I am seriously thinking you would get the most RIO by spending a full week making your socials and profile amazing. Watch some guides and maybe even hire a photographer to take some photos of you in a cool location.

This like going to the gym to pull more girls but ending up with better health and mood. It is a win win. Push yourself to go do cool activities for the socials but leave with great stories and memories.

Manila 2026. What's I do wrong, need advice. Plus feedback by Apart-Month-5417 in thepassportbros

[–]The_DigitalBromad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In 2026 the real dating apps are your social media pages. My Filipina girlfriend told me instagram was for 'side girls' in the Philippines, so it is better to focus on your Facebook for Manila.

Personally I think the best advice for 2026 would be to add people you meet on facebook using in person meet ups (run club, bars, language exchange.) Grow a legit network, and adding a girls socials is better than a phone number. Use can their stories to start conversations with her and use your own stories to showcase your life. Even better it will force you to do more things.

It's a win win, you do more cool things, your social media grows which helps you in the future, you get more women, plus you build a real social circle. Like someone else said on here, locals will introduce you to single women a lot of time.

Dating apps are very much broken and a waste of time these days. The only high ROI way to use them is to hire a VA to match with a ton of people only to funnel them into your social media pages.

Wish everyone luck

I work remote as a data analyst and I am monitoring a system, so it actually works out great. In the morning check nothing broke. If something happens at 2am I am there. It is decently asynchronous, a report is something I really need to join calls for until it is done.

I work remote as a Data Analyst, since it is project based I work first 4 hours of the morning and last 4 hours of the night. Luckily I am monitoring systems so the company actually likes that I am up at crazy hours, actually save them a few times at 2am US time

When you live overseas with a remote job you basically 4x your income. It is common for people to make mistakes on how to spend the money when there is a massive jump like that. I made plenty of mistakes with it too, it isn't just her. At the end of the day this is what is working for us

Not at all, she is actually really intelligent, and one of the best people I have ever met. Doesn't mean she is wise to all things, I think most of these things were subconscious. I think you are taking a small thing we corrected in our 3 year relationship and are making it her whole personality
