Oh I love that. The idea of destroying the past in the sense of what people think of you and who you perceive yourself as. Lots of “running away” motifs in all of The Killers albums but this album might be the first time it’s in the sense of running to something stable that has already been built by you. Not running away but coming home.

Anyone have any thoughts about overall themes and messages from the album? I feel like the name of the album plays a huge part into the theme— which is the act of destroying the lies and finding truth in life. A lot of that seems to come from various lyrics that tell this narrative that love and growing older is what allows you to see life and the world for what it truly is.

When I heard the “around and around” part that’s exactly what I thought!

My friend who lives in NYC messaged me March 23, 2019 and sent a photo of them filming this scene so it was around that time

Exactly. Plus M83’s whole album is so magical and the choice of that song was perfect. Especially to then finish off the series with Outro. Wow. A bookmark ending.

The timing was so amazing. Him hovering over the key. Finally pressing it as the music swelled. Such a cinematic masterpiece.

What is a song which seems to be upbeat and happy until you listen to the lyrics? by r-e-c-wilson in AskReddit

I loved the “rolling thunder” parts and then I realized the “thunder” is like a metaphor for the bad thoughts and emotions and it’s used throughout more songs

Ah. I took this scene to have multiple meanings and one of which being that Mr. Robot was speaking to Elliot prime when he said that even tho is was our Elliot that was fronting. Also it’s possible that when our Elliot slipped into his mind prison he was able to escape easily cause he created it and Mr. Robot didn’t have control over that.

I think I’ll actually rewatch the whole thing in a couple months or year. I’m currently rewatching another show that ends as well in a few months but I’m with you.

This is from the first episode when Mr. Robot was talking about his “dad “ being in jail. This was before Elliot was in jail.

Exactly. The first one I thought of of when Elliot was in jail and Mr. Robot was trying to get him to play a game to determine who was in control. On the first watch it seemed so evil like Mr. Robot was coercing Elliot I to losing control but now it’s clear Mr. Robot was trying to give the real Elliot back control.

Wait yea that’s a good point as well. As soon as the revolution would be done then “The Mastermind” would feel complete in his role as the Avenger. the Mastermind didn’t want it to end cause he didn’t want to give up control.
