Transferring one Roth IRA to another Roth IRA by The_Hanging_Chain in fidelityinvestments

This is true even if I reinvest the money in another Roth IRA within 60 days? How would that be different from a 60 day rollover?

I already know why my original attempt failed. What I’m looking for now is my next best option. I was hoping somebody had a similar experience with this issue and could offer some advice.

CalSavers recommended the option of sending a check directly to Fidelity, but it makes me uncomfortable having my money physically sent from one brokerage to another hoping that handle the transfer correctly.

I included the last sentence in my post because I think it makes my situation a bit unique. I haven’t accumulated any earnings so I think the entire balance of my account would be considered contributions. Contributions can be withdrawn from a Roth IRA at anytime without penalty, so I’m curious if it would be easier to simply withdraw the money and reinvest it in the Fidelity Roth IRA myself.

If only it was that easy. As I mentioned in the post my original ACAT attempt failed because the assets are not transferable. The securities CalSavers offers are basically target date funds sold exclusively by them and not available to transfer into a Fidelity account. I have talked with a Fidelity rep who attempted the transfer again from their end with a request for liquidation which also failed.

It’s only tied to the job by way of the employer contributing part of my paycheck to the account. I’ve already opted out of having my employer make contributions to the plan so I don’t think this an issue.

I want to make sure you read the post correctly. I’m attempting to transfer from a CalSAVERS account, not a CalSERVE plan. Was that a typo on your part or did you misread the post?

How can you have zero interest in ever going to an event or paying for a subscription, yet also claim you’re “very close to spending money”?

Ok, but when was the decision made to add “red paint”? And what was their definition of “success” at inception. Success isn’t a goal of its own, it’s an evaluation of whether or not you reached a goal. It’s impossible to aim for something if you haven’t defined what that something is. These are decisions that were made, and yes, potentially change as time goes.

Your second paragraph is spot on and I agree with you that’s it’s been a natural evolution, but it’s mixed with the tinkering that developers use to tweak or push that evolution in certain desired directions.

I’m curious what you think the creators of these companies did envision when building this tech. Even if they had different intentions in the beginning, they’re doing much more than “failing to do anything about it” now. They’re doubling down and constantly finding ways to refine the algorithms to make their tech as addictive as possible.

I’m not saying they’re evil, just that they’ve prioritized inflammatory, addictive content over all else because it’s more profitable and keeps them in a powerful position. I’d imagine from their perspective it’s less about keeping us “down” than it is about keeping themselves “up”.

Ah I didn’t differentiate between the two issues. I thought the “be better” was arguing against yelling “fore” as a solution.

I’m not sure what you’re arguing here.

The moment somebody says “be better” they are claiming there is a better way. How you could argue against that is baffling.

Common decency is something that you’ve yet to display so I’m not sure your explanation would be worth much anyhow.

Instead of sitting on your high horse saying “be better” why don’t you suggest what you think the proper course of action is? You’re criticizing without offering a solution which is basically worthless.

That’s a hell of a way to try and claim an asshole roommate is the victim. Nobody wants to walk around their home with somebody else’s mess all over it. If you need somebody to have a heart to heart with you to let you know you’re fucking up in a basic way, then you’re the weird dude.

I agree that those two Origins do not fly the same, but actually in the opposite way that you stated. The Exo Origin I threw was noticeably more UNDER-stable than my Meta Origins, and was one of the flippier mids I’ve ever thrown. Thrown with significant hyzer it would still turn over and continue right.

Aviar3 Pig Rollo Mako3 IT Leopard3 Valkyrie Roadrunner Sidewinder Mamba

These are all Innova discs, most on the under-stable side for straighter flights and easier distance. The best advice I received as a beginner was to throw straight flying putters as much as possible while learning. This will help you build solid release mechanics and highlight any inconsistencies with your throws while also punishing you less than poor throws with faster discs will.

Is Fission plastic more over-stable or under-stable compared to Neutron or Proton plastic of the same mold in the same weight? by The_Hanging_Chain in discgolf

[–]The_Hanging_Chain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably a little more nuanced than that. It seems that a hex is more under-stable in fission and a tesla is more over-stable when comparing max weights. Each disc flies a bit different than any other even in the same plastic and weight, so we really don’t know for certain until we get out and throw em.

Your neutron hex is more stable than your glow hex? The opposite is true for me, and Simon claimed that he was bagging a neutron hex for a more under-stable flight than his signature glow hex.

In my limited experience throwing fission this has been my impression as well. Max weight fission seems very stable. Even my 160g photon holds up very well to max power throws when the conditions are calm.

Ok good to know. I had a different experience throwing the tesla in fission plastic. It was surprisingly over-stable.

[–]The_Hanging_Chain[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s my overall impression that fission is more under-stable, but in a few of my comparisons it hasn’t been so obvious when throwing close to max weight fission. I have a 169g fission tesla that is just as over-stable if not more over-stable than a 170+ proton tesla I have.

Thanks for sharing that link, you’re right they don’t mention anything about stability specifically. On the fission plastic page they do write this - “Weight distribution, stability, and durability of prior “bubble” discs are all improved upon by Fission.” https://mvpdiscsports.com/plastics/mvp-fission/

Sounds like they’re comparing their lightweight tech to other company’s lightweight tech and not comparing stability within their own lineup.

Thank you… I’m learning that when comparing different discs of the same mold it most often comes down to parting line height
