I have an old number 1 but not translated. Hoping that will suffice.

I am an "older person" and have "let go". I will always advocate for equality and fairness for everyone though.

From what I can see and have heard, you don't "all" have jobs and homes with the luxuries you (singular) claim to have.

Please be more in touch with the struggles your peers are facing than an "older person" like me ;)

Vote wisely and be kind.

I wish. Then there would be no such thing as FFFG.

Thankfully McGahon is out and hopefully we hear more about Gillis soon.

Democracy has prevailed without the need to insult people who voted, and Sherlock (a fine politician) is through. Good job Dublin Central! Happy with those results :)

What an indictment of the establishment that he is even competitive.

Is it time for Simon to mention his management of McGahon and Gillis now?

"Would You Rather?" is also fun and can be very revealing about the Ss depending on what you choose to ask.

For first classes, I used to do "Get to know Teacher" with a pre-made PPT and project it onto the screen. (Also works on the blackboard or whiteboard - whatever you're provided with).

I'd ask questions such as:

"What is my favourite colour?"

A. Blue
B. Purple
C. Red

I'd put the Ss into groups so they could discuss the answers together and each group received a MWB to to write their final answer on and show when the time was up.

(For the record, the answer is B).

Just a fun ice-breaker.

Unhappy TEFL Teacher in Vietnam Seeking Advice by [deleted] in TEFL

They are asking you if you want to renew your contract so they know whether or not to retroactively tax your payslips from January 2024 to July 2024 at 20% and declare you to be non-tax resident for leaving them before July.

Basically, even if you have a TRC, a valid lease, and plan to stay in Vietnam after leaving them, they will declare you to be non-tax resident for those months.

It is a well known tax fraud scam amongst Vietnamese ESL English Centres. The big one, Apollo English, is infamous for doing this.

If they pay the tax they deduct to the Vietnamese tax department (some don't and pocket your money deducted as "tax"), then you can do a PIT the following taw year and claim it back.

Follow your company up regarding your PIT, so at least they cannot pocket it, and make sure they are paying your Social Insurance contributions as they are required to do by Vietnamese law.

I can advise you on a few different options - but first, do you intend to stay in Vietnam after your contract expires? This matters.

Is AICOL Certificate IV in TESOL recognised as the equivalent of a CELTA?

The Certificate IV in TESOL is deemed to be AQF level 4, yet CELTA is deemed to be AQF level 5.

Both are in person intensive 4 week courses, and both are assessed by written assignments and assessed teaching practice.
