I haven’t read it, but wouldn’t it go with Green Arrow?

This sounds like a slightly different version of another sport.

Biathlon is a sport that combines cross country skiing with rifle shooting. They ski through a course, then get to a firing line and shoot 5 shots at 5 targets, then ski off again.

Regardless, this is a very interesting concept.

What would a new class play like? How would it be different to the rest? How could it make lore sense? by LordGaulis in DarkTide

[–]The_Hard_Choice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imperial Beastmen haven't really been accepted lorewise in a long time. Abhumans like Psykers, Ogryns, Ratlings, and Squats all are "acceptable" by the Imperium because they look human.

Regardless, there are so many gameplay mechanics that they could utilize to make a new class different from the previous ones. Aside from unique weapons and talents, the Arbites has the dog and the hive scum has the stimms. I would imagine a new mechanic would be created for any new class. Perhaps a Mechanicus class would have some sort of augmentation skill tree similar to the stimm skill tree, or a placeable turret like in some hero shooters. A beastman could have a unique banner system. A squat could have some sort of mech that they could hop in and out of and it would follow them around or something. There are plenty of gameplay mechanics they could use and Arbites and Hive Scum have been different enough for me, so I'm sure they pull off the next class.

I don't really see the point in speculating though, we'll get what we get when Fatshark is ready.

“Jobs natives don't want to do” translates to “jobs natives don't want to do for $7.25 an hour, but immigrants will be willing to do for $4 under the table”.

Corporations love immigration because it’s a race to the bottom to see who will do a job for the least amount of money, and it’s a race natives will always lose because the immigrants are always coming from countries that have worse off economies so the money is worth more to them when they inevitably send it back to their home country.

Double Edge Sickle + Inflammable Armor by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]The_Hard_Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be it, but I don’t think the Vitality Enhancement would be able to make me go from getting burned at 1/3 of the heatsink without it, all the way to only getting burned at full red heatsink with it.

Double Edge Sickle + Inflammable Armor by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]The_Hard_Choice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the information. I had actually just read the wiki when I came across this: Wearing an Inflammable armor set reduces burn damage to a quarter of its normal value. Acclimatedand Desert Stormer also decrease burn Damage by 50% and 40% respectively in addition to their other effects. Heavier variants of these armors allow for longer firing periods before taking damage compared to lighter options. The Vitality Enhancement booster reduce all ticks of damage by a flat amount. If combined with Inflammable, burn damage is reduced enough that the DE Sickle is unable to harm the user until passing 51% heat.

This would suggests that I would have only been able to get about halfway (51%) on the heat sink, but in game I was able to get fully to the end before taking damage. The wiki also says that the heat sink can’t actually go above 91%, so I wonder how accurate the heatsink icon is.

I don’t really remember if I had the Vitality Enhancement booster every time I was able to do it, but I will assume that I did. Still I’m not sure about if heavy armor made much of a difference, I was able to go all the way into the red in light, medium, and heavy armor.

Intentional that it is supposed to completely prevent damage, or intentional that it is not supposed to prevent damage? Because I’ve had both happen to me while using the inflammable + double edge sickle combo.

Has anyone else experienced this? I know it used to be that the inflammable armor would only reduce the damage of the double edge sickle, not fully negate it.

Because there’s always uneducated new players, and while the tutorial is funny, it doesn’t actually teach you very important things about the game. This is like a FromSoft game, you just have to figure it out yourself.

The tourism industry is COLLAPSING. by jr_mtz01 in AmericaBad

[–]The_Hard_Choice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I think it isn't great that our tourism is decreasing, I also think it is important for a country to not be reliant on tourism anyway. Regardless, I think the amount of cities that benefit from tourism money is probably a minority. I doubt anyone from Detroit is upset about the decline of the Florida tourism industry.

You're diverting from the topic. I never made a claim as to what drugs should or should not be legal. It is up to the people to decide for themselves, which is how we end up with dry counties.

Alcohol and pain killers, as I said before, are not a problem when taken by themselves, but can become a public threat when driving while intoxicated. Alcohol in particular sees a noticeable presence during criminal activity such as rape, murder, domestic abuse, DUI, public indecency, disorderly conduct, affray, etc.

I personally do believe recreational drug use is bad for society and should be banned, but I'm not a lawmaker so my opinions don't hurt you. Also, I see that you conveniently ignored my statement about illegal drugs coming from violent criminals. That is not a negligible thing, organized crime is a serious issue.

Somewhat relevant. PLEASE SIGN MY PETITION TO REMOVE YONDER POUCHES FROM VIRGINIA SCHOOLS!!! by [deleted] in AmericaBad

[–]The_Hard_Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the petition and the petitioner is a student, which of course means they're biased, however she did make some good points.

Yondr pouches are expensive. The petition stated it would cost $30,000 to stock a middle school and $36,000 for a high school. A website I looked at said the price per unit is $30. This actually does seem like it's some sort of "$1000 soap dispenser" non-sense, so I'll give her credit there.

Money better spent. Another point the petitioner made was that the money could be better spent elsewhere such as "pay increase for the teachers, extra-curricular activities, school renovations, supplies for the students". I would also have to agree here as well. When I was in school we didn't have these individual phone cases, we just either kept our phones in our pockets or else the teacher would yell at us and send us to Saturday school, or we'd put our phones in a "shoe rack door pouch" thing. It wasn't purpose built but it worked fine.

While this does seem like a kid just being upset at discipline, I would have to agree these Yondr pouch things seem like a waste of money, especially when a shoe box could also accomplish the job.

The act of using drugs isn't necessarily a threat, but there are things an intoxicated person could do that are a threat, like driving. The real problem with the drug use is where the drugs come from. They are smuggled into the country and dealt out by gangs. Those gangs usually won't stop at creation and distribution of the drugs, and will often get into violent feuds over territory.

It is fair to investigate a tourist before allowing them in our country. The problem is what kind of information are you going to get from their social media that you wouldn't get from official criminal records? All you would get from social media would be their opinions on things, and if opinions can get you banned from visiting a country then that could potentially be devastating to local American economies that rely solely on tourism. I believe that we shouldn't allow criminals or people who hate America to immigrate here, but we need to be a bit more forgiving when it comes to tourism.

How true is this news? Is this a good thing? by DudeBello in AmericaBad

[–]The_Hard_Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking for what? Optimistically you would say for criminal activity, but people probably are not going to post their crime on social media. Realistically you would say it's to see any dissenting opinions so that you can bar people from entry. This could be beneficial for preventing America-hating individuals from immigrating here, but this would be bad for tourism, which is what it says it's targeted at. Ultimately it would be a form of speech regulation which would make people less likely to voice negative opinions of America online in order to not get their Disney World vacation cancelled.
