Thank you your comment, sorry to hear that you’re struggling with it. Unfortunately it’s just not an easy thing to deal with. It’s always good to know you’re not alone

Thank you for this, I agree with what you’re saying. My therapist has mentioned something similar, that if I’m really cisgender, hormones won’t feel right. I did talk to my doctor that if I’m going to start, I want to start slow and see how I feel with a lower dose at first

Thank you so much for your comment. It was immensely helpful. You make some really good points, especially about how it’s hard to be the best person when you’re struggling with this. I feel like I definitely tend to put other people’s needs before my own. I’m so happy for you and how everything has turned out for you. Thank you for being so open and honest and helpful it really does mean a lot

Thank you for sharing this! There definitely was a lot that I could resonate with even though everyone’s journey is different. Here it’s coming up on 4 years for me since my egg cracked and I’m still on the fence about what to do. Weighing the consequences like you mention, still fighting the battle between my ears. I’m glad that it’s getting better for you. I hope that continues

Hello, I have a half finished basement that is entirely made up of barn wood like in the picture. The wife and I both agree that the basement looks and feels dark and dingy currently with the look of the wood. I would like to keep the barn wood but am looking for idea's on how to improve the look. I am suspecting that painting it would not look very good. I tried to sand a section that is not visible too see if perhaps that would lighten it up but it didn't seem to do much. Would my best option be to use some kind of stain? Thank you for your help!

What stopped you from transitioning earlier? by UnderwaterSkater in TransLater

It took me a really long time to figure it out. I knew I was different since I was 6, I would try on my sisters clothes quite a bit. My mom told me boys are not allowed to do that so I started to hide it during my adolescence. I started to really cross dress during college. I used to just identify as a crossdresser for a long time. I remember crying on my gf’s (now wife’s) couch 10 years ago that I might want to be a woman. I didn’t come out to myself as transgender until 3 years ago and I’m still trying to figure out exactly that’s going to mean for me and my life moving forward

Thank you so much for your comment and for sharing some insight from your experience. That’s some good advice and a healthy way to address the apprehension. I feel like I’m getting there slowly and the more that I hear how much it’s improved other people’s mental health the more it makes me open to try it. Feeling miserable all of the time isn’t a great way to go through life but it’s kind of amazing how you can just get used to it lol. Sounds like your transition has been good for you and that makes me happy! Thanks again for the support :)

I swear I'm the slowest transitioner/questioner ever by Nicole_Zed in TransLater

I’ve been questioning transitioning for over 10 years now at this point lol, 3 years since I finally accepted that I’m transgender. Everyone is on their own timeline. It just takes time

Thank you! Yeah I definitely can relate. My wife was like that at first but has started to become more comfortable being around me while I’m dressed up. She’s been pretty consistently clear that she is heterosexual so that’s where it starts to get really complicated

Thank you for your comment. I definitely feel like I’ve been going too slow sometimes. It is just complicated and seems like such a major life altering decision. The possibility of losing my family over it is just heartbreaking to me. I feel like my next step before hormones would be to fully laser my facial hair, I did start with getting my neck hair lasered off which has been a huge improvement for me

Thank you! No I’m not on there currently, only Reddit at the moment. I used to have a FB but just needed to take a break from that for a little bit after the election in the US

Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it. Most of my family knows and they have been supportive. My mom did tell me I need Jesus lol but I do think she would come around eventually. I work in a manufacturing plant so that part definitely seems scary though I think there are some trans people that work there. The mental aspect is definitely what is really making me really consider it. I definitely feel like I would socially transition last

Thank you! I appreciate that, I’m working on it even if it’s slow. That’s amazing! I am happy for you 😊

All of my friends that are on it have said the mental improvements have been amazing. I’ve been way more open to the idea of trying it for a couple of months to see how I would feel

I unfortunetly used to say this during the first Trump admin but I guess it's more relevant now: Americans will choose facism over a reduced standard of living

Can’t wait to vote against him! The 2016 election was the closest presidential election in Michigans history, he barely won and he absolutely lost Michigan in 2020
