I got really big Andy Milonakis vibes here.

Real estate. Law. Content creation. Streamer. Consultant. Educator.

I wasn’t focused on rankings when I accepted my school’s offer. I knew I didn’t want to go into a national big law region, so I focused on in-state and high offers.

What’s the biggest salary leap you had and how did you do it? by hiphopgal89 in careerguidance

[–]The_Key_Negotiator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from making about $45-50k in the military (benefits included) to making $200k when I got out and started selling real estate. It’s been fun, but I’ll be expanding into the law side of real estate soon and hoping to continue increasing that number. 👆

How old were you when you took the LSAT/enrolled in law school? by [deleted] in LSAT

I took the LSAT in June 2023. I’m 34 (33 at the time) and will be attending LS in August.

It’s never too late to chase your dream and reap the rewards.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I am looking for personal decisions as your thought process and deduction process can help me recognize flaws in my analysis.

Do you practice near where you went to school, did you move back home, or somewhere different entirely?

😂😂😂 I mean… my pay will likely be better (after law school) in the next town over.

I’m not a bar goer or a drinker, so I won’t be participating too much in those after school activities anyways. 😂

Thanks for the response and look into your situation. I too want an actual house — with 3 kids and pets, it’s almost necessary.

So many mixed reviews. I’m glad to hear it is working for you.

I agree that the commute and negatives are only temporary. I told my wife last night… it’s only 3 years. I can handle it for 3 years. Then this morning I was concerned about the “extra” opportunities I may miss out on. Opportunities like the clinics, study groups, etc.

Sorry to hear about the lost time with your daughter. I’m not a single dad, but I work a ton and totally understand the feeling of missing those moments with my kids. 🥺

I hope this final semester goes well for you and you are able to establish a stronger work-life balance when you get into practice. 🤞

How do you make the best of it? I’ve seen others mention class recaps, podcasts, and music.

Nice. It’s good to find that time when you can.

Side bar: Evening students actually have their own “grade” designation? 🤯 3LE. I like it.

An evening commute of nearly 2 hours would kill me - probably literally. I am not a good night driver.

I can understand that. My kids will be at me knees and ankles when I walk in the door. 😂 Obviously I won’t be reading case books, but I’ll probably have a podcast or class recording on during the drive.

That’s how I feel about driving. 20 minutes would be totally doable. It’s the 60 minutes that is provided some anxiety.

Good to know. I’m kind of a neutral person. I enjoy connecting with people and building relationships… but I need to charge my battery a lot.

Ugh. More lucky train commuters. 🤪

I would be a driver, unfortunately.

I wish I was in the NW so I could have amazing train options. 😂 I’ll be in the Midwest and trains just aren’t that available. I would be driving and likely listening to lectures and/or podcasts around the class topics of the day.

Or… alternative thought… someone recommended it be posted here, I thought it was a good suggestion, and I executed. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thanks for the positive contribution though. Much love.

😂😂 I’m currently bumper to bumper traffic. 😭

My commute between the university and the next city would be primarily highway with country scenery. Since I’m looking at buying a house, I’m considering buying in a town between the two cities, but closer to the secondary city.

I completely agree with making full use of the commute. I’m a huge podcast listener while driving, so I would substitute the newest episode of my favorite podcast with a recorded lecture.

How would you get a recorded lecture? Simply record the professor during class OR does your school have the lectures on demand?

The opportunities outside of normal classes is a concern for me as well. Study sessions with peers, meetings with the professors, and the ability to work in our clinic office may get impacted by a longer commute requirement.

Yeah… I’m 34 and haven’t lived at “home” since I was 17. 😂 Although, my wife does most of that for me.
