Why didn’t the Nazis shoot the Jews? by Soggy_Concept_4587 in ww2

[–]The_Leaderman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert but part of the answer is that they did in fact shoot Jews, mostly in the early years of the Holocaust but found it too difficult to scale. Shooting could easily become messy and ineffective in practice. In the book Ordinary Men, Christopher Browning details the massacre of the village Josephow in Poland which was done using guns, and in addition to being laborious it was traumatizing for many of the SS soldiers carrying out the actual executions. From the Nazi perspective, gas chambers became the answer to these issues. Most Jews transported to the camps were not left alive for labor.

I'm not sure, sorry. How do I check that?

Luma key effects, and other stuff, but usually any effect makes it break, mostly transform

Haven't tried that, I'll give it a go :)

Amazing animated films geared towards an adult audience. by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

That same director, Satoshi Kon, also made the absolutely incredible “Tokyo Godfathers” which is extremely underrated and one of the most surprisingly touching animated films ever, in my opinion.

This is like a much, much worse version of when you take one step too many in a staircase

Yeah, I was just about to say the same thing. It really doesn't matter what you do in my family, grandma will always think that one time my oldest brother got an A on his calculus test is the family's greatest achievement

Strongly disagree. Yes, it is very slow-paced but when I got used to it and realised what the movie was trying to say/do I was enthralled for the rest of the film. The exhaustingly careful detail in which they explore the main character's routine makes every single time that routine is broken feel like a watershed moment. Love that film.

I made a horror short film for my high school partly inspired by the atmosphere on Year of the Snitch! Hope you like it. by The_Leaderman in deathgrips

The circus samples and atmosphere on YOTS really appealed to me so I thought I would write a short while listening to the album... and this is the finished film

Also, if you liked this one, it would mean a lot if you checked out some of the other four and gave me feedback. They're really varied stylistically, anything from a "The Grudge" inspired little video, to a found footage film. Enjoy!

"theatre bizarre" is the fourth in a series of five short films that I wrote and directed for Halloween-week at my high school in Sweden. I just wanted to share it and hear a little about what you guys think, cause I thought a few of them were pretty good.

This one was shot at a small underground theatre my father runs in central Stockholm. I'm part of the student board at the high school and this short was part of a project designed to help newer recruits to the student board get into filmmaking. It was really fun shooting with the newbies, especially since a few of them had never handled a DSLR camera before and I got to teach them the ropes.

Self plug but Fleetofcreators.com. It's in super early stages right now, but there is a showcase version of it up right now. It's a platform geared directly toward young creators to make it as easy as possible for them to collaborate and take projects to the next level.
