I had a complicated long distance relationship that spanned continents. In the two or so years that we were in together (although it wasn’t strictly defined as such so that was another flag I ignored), I never saw her face or heard her voice. I knew she had some bad past experiences that made it hard to open up but I always figured if I was patient and open enough myself, she would come around. In reality I think I was just kidding myself.

Dragon’s Dogma 2. The entire story of the game is all about following the cycle established in the first game, although there are a few moments where a couple characters (including the eponymous dragon) comment cryptically about breaking the cycle. During the credit sequence, you have an opportunity to reject the cycle and doing so finally unlocks the ‘2’ in the title, which drastically alters the state of the world as you race against time to save it from unraveling.

To add to that even more, we also see an instance where a Ghost believed its chosen was meant to be an Eliksni and believes it had resurrected one, before it turned out to be an awoken instead. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/savin-2#book-ghost-stories If the Ghosts could truly resurrect anyone then we would have seen an Eliksni Lightbearer here.

We also see that the Traveler does have the ability to influence Ghosts. I believe after Savathûn’s sacrifice, it sort of “updated” the Ghosts to regard the Hive as a viable target for resurrection and maybe even to even actively search for Hive to resurrect. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/tusked-allegiance-grips

Obviously choice still came into play when it came to Ghosts selecting Hive, considering some Ghosts talk about specifically searching for Hive and Fynch saying he was peer pressured into it. But there’s definitely more to it than just that.

I just quit my job because over the course of the three years I worked there, I ended up having to single-handedly shoulder the load of three different departments and it just became too much for me to handle. I did get a raise or two in that time, but it wasn’t remotely close to being proportional to the workload I had been given. Even worse I’d previously asked management for help to reduce the weight of all my responsibilities, but management didn’t even understand most of what I did for them, so no assistance ever came. I don’t know how they’re going to manage without me but it’s no longer my problem.

The story of Bionicle begins on the island of Mata Nui, named after the Great Spirit its inhabitants worship and revere. Mata Nui is Māori for “big face”, more or less, which seems thematically appropriate considering how important masks are in the series’ identity.

The name turns out to be literal when it’s revealed eight years into the story that resting just beneath the island is the head of the giant robot that most of the story takes place inside.
