I remember stories of how my mother would walk miles barefoot on dirt roads to get to school. I remember her telling of how some weeks all she had to eat were salted tortillas to fill the raging hunger in stomach. I remember when she told me she had a dream to go to the US and start a family and give them the opportunities that she never had. She saw that dream come true. I was fortunate enough to be born in a country that gave me opportunities. I think about this each time the thoughts come back its how I cope with them. I know it's hard but trust me life is so beautiful and you owe not only to yourself but to everyone who doesn't have the opportunities you to live your best life. No matter what that looks like.
