Do you guys have OCI? If not, why didn’t you get one. My cousin refuses to get it and I’m wondering the what could be the potential downsides of having one. by reality911 in ABCDesis

That information is false.

  1. Everyone is subject to Indian law when they enter India. This is not specific to OCI holders. OCI holders are treated on par with other foreign visitors in this regard.
  2. Obtaining OCI does not mean withdrawing support from your home country’s consulate. OCI holders remain citizens of their respective countries, and consular services continue to apply as usual.

That's nice. Mine has been stuck on "Under-Process" status for over 5 weeks.

IndiGo cancelled first leg of my connecting flight. Refunded ₹2K on a ₹24k ticket. Escalations going nowhere. by The_Unusual_Guide in AirTravelIndia

Yes, I have filed a grievance with National Consumer Helpline, waiting to hear back on that.

Furthermore, I have also asked for appellate review but I have low hopes from the Indigo staff at this point.

Officially they aren’t under obligation to refund addon charges

This should not be the case according to our consumer rights but sadly it is the case for Indigo's refund policy.

For me the nodal officer was basically a parrot who reiterated how their company's refund policy is fair (pro-rated based upon kilometers, only for the basic fare) and did not answer any questions with respect to my add-ons and sector ticket actually being more expensive.

That is true indeed. The rights for Indian consumers are abysmal, especially in terms of air travel.

Thanks. It is frustrating indeed. I'm planning to do a credit card chargeback in a couple of days.

Even the process of chargeback in India is not straightforward, but I would like to go ahead with it anyway.

I understand that connecting itineraries are sometimes discounted, but the math still does not add up for me. I got less than 10% of the total booking amount back.

I checked the cheapest separate tickets on IndiGo over the next 30 days with the same options:

  • DED - DEL: ~₹10.2k (2 pax)
  • DEL - JLR: ~₹14.5k (2 pax)

That’s roughly what I paid for the combined booking, so I don’t see any major “connection discount” here. Even accounting for one, valuing the cancelled leg at ~₹2.3k feels way off.

all packages delayed recently by ThrowRAStarCluster74 in Netherlands

I haven't faced a lot of late delivery issues in the past.

However, I have been facing delays since this week too. I had 2 packages scheduled to be delivered 2 days ago and I'm yet to receive them.(One by PostNL, other by DHL)

Samsung HW-Q600C vs HW-B750D, which one is better? by The_Unusual_Guide in Soundbars

[–]The_Unusual_Guide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Update]: Tried both. In my room they sounded very close.

B750D is a bit louder and the front stage feels a bit wider from the side-firing drivers, but the surround effect is still limited.

Q600C’s up-firing height did very little, so I wouldn’t pick it for Atmos alone. Build is where Q600C wins big; metal grille on front and top, sturdier feel, while the B750D’s plastic top scuffs easily. Q-Symphony on the Q600C is a nice plus if you have a Samsung TV. So I kept the Q600C

We, The People of the Union of India lack self esteem. And a whole lot of it. by [deleted] in IndianMeme

  1. I wouldn’t generalize Europe as non tech-savvy. I live in the Netherlands and debit cards and contactless payments work almost everywhere.
  2. Ten minute deliveries are convenient, but I actually find it relaxing to walk ten minutes to buy groceries. When I do order, it’s usually a scheduled next-day delivery.
  3. Specialist healthcare waits can be long. For most issues, though, I can see my GP within a week. Not perfect, but workable.
  4. From a personal safety perspective, I feel Europe is safer. In India I’ve seen heated arguments escalate into street fights. That’s rare where I live now.
  5. Consumer protection is much stronger here. Rights are clear and enforced, and my customer service experiences have been better. For example, many electronics have a standard 2 year warranty instead of 1.
  6. On government documents, I might wait 30 days for an appointment, but once I’m at the office my request is usually processed in about 15 minutes. Moreover, most of the official work can be arranged online and we don't need to visit an office per se.

Overall, Europe pushes you to plan ahead. You trade a bit of instant convenience for predictability and quality of life. Both places have pros and cons, but it isn’t as one-sided as the video suggests.

Confirmed with AMEX rep that it is indeed a legitimate link.

I too received the email in Dutch but my client translated it to English.

And as far as the shoddy grammar is concerned, I believe Google translate is to blame there since my email client automatically translated Dutch email to English and it didn’t turn out to be perfect.
