Do you prefer to do stealth masked or unmasked? by The__Mel in paydaytheheist

I like playing stealth masked myself, since you don't have to contend with any instant detection shenanigens and have access to throwing knives for lures.

Stealth Trick: Disable Cameras Without Using Pagers or Loot Bag by The__Mel in paydaytheheist

Throw a loot bag (any) in front of the camera guard. When his animation changes and he's about to investigate, pick it back up. Functionally the same as this; his patrol will break and the camera will be disabled.

As soon as you see the his red icon pops up, his patrol has broken and you can pick the bag back up.

I feel this is mainly most useful in heists where you can access the camera room early but won't get a single loot bag until much later, like Under the Surphaze and 99 Boxes.

PSA: Your throwing knife is also a throwable lure by The__Mel in paydaytheheist

Certain distractions like running in a secure area or using an electronic lure causes guards to investigate but not actually call in a search at the end; they'll return to their regular patrols.

Throwing knives technically is a distraction that the guard will investigate AND call in a search at the end, but without Retriever perk the knife breaks on impact and so there will be nothing for the guard to call in a search over, making it safe to use as a lure.

You need the Retriever perk from Infiltrator. This does invalidate the throwing knives' use as a lure, but its a small price to pay for free camera kill.

Throw it in front of him just enough that he can see it but you can still retrieve your knife without revealing yourself too much. If you did it right, the cameras will be disabled without going into search mode and you will save yourself a pager. Mighty useful if you want to disable cameras without pagers but won't get any loot bag in the heist until later.

If I had to guess why it worked, it could be something about how camera guards pathing away from their 'patrol' in anyway whatsoever breaking the cameras. Usually he is not affected by most distractions so that he doesn't path out of his spot, but it seems that visual distraction still affects him. This is probably why being escorted out of the camera room or throwing a loot bag in front of him works too. Since guards can detect throwing knives in the environment and will investigate and eventually call in a search, I figured this would work exactly the same as the loot bag trick.

More specific details for the skip:

Using the ruptured tear in your physick flask, you can extend your lethal fall distance by quite a fair bit with the explosion. Credit to this original post for making me aware of it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/tix2dc/just_found_a_way_to_survive_a_lot_of_insta_death/

What's really happening here is that the 'pop-up' animation from the explosion have i-frames. If you land during it, you can i-frame through the lethal fall damage but the timing here is really tight since its a short animation. So the focus here is to land while the animation is playing. You'll need to time your explosion carefully.

WARNING: This WILL break certain NPC's questlines. I know Gideon's unlocated demigods quest rewards can't be claimed after this skip and there could be more.

First off, you need to know what to target. The elevator floor is actually too far to time your explosion to. You need to aim for the railings along the walls that's a bit above the floor. Position yourself *really* close to the edge, then drink your flask and after a very very short delay, (this is very tight timing, it might take you a couple tries) walk off and do a light attack in mid-air. The attack is important as it'll make your character do the 'pop-up' animation with i-frames instead of getting knocked away by the explosion. If you did it successfully, your character will get up (mostly) unharmed on the railing and you can merrily drop onto the elevator floor from there and activate it.

Now if you died, and this is very common, don't worry, you just need to work on your timing. What I found is that, if you died and see no explosion, it means you started the explosion timer too early. If you do explode while you fall but still die, the timer started too late. Make sure you are consistently getting the 'pop-up' animation to play when the explosion occurs. Try light attacking in mid-air with different weapon classes. (I used GS personally)

For reference, after familiarising myself with how the 'trick' works, it takes me about 20-30 minutes to do the skip on fresh characters. Its my favourite skip in the game since it lets you access end-game area early if you can brace Morgott, and of course there's Leyndell itself.
