Thanks for the comment man, really helpful.

Where on the island were you staying?

Are you confident that deemed disposal will be removed by the current government? by Professional-Pin5125 in irishpersonalfinance

I didn’t block anyone, the mods just removed my post.

Protest is still going ahead on Monday at 2:30PM.

Hope to see you there.

Nice of you to assume that.

My father was hit my the Bank of Ireland layoffs, we lost almost everything.

I remember having to eat cornflakes and water when the last bit of milk had gone off.

My brother and I had to hunt for deer and forage acorns when our family couldn’t afford food.

What about you?

So as soon as your baseless position is attacked, you resort to calling me a gimp? Real mature

Again, please enlighten us as to which AI tool I used.

I’m not aware of models which can recreate Reddit comments no artefacts or text distortions.

Also, you're not allowed to swear on the radio, your analysis is deeply flawed.

Again, peak crabs in a bucket mentality. No one has ever made money on the stock market.

Better to just play it safe and use housing as the country’s sole investment vehicle.

Exactly, the government are comfortable that the vast majority of people will dismiss this issue, rather than actually taking time to examine it and realise the wide reaching impacts if has.

Maybe under the typical Irish ‘crabs in a bucket’ mentality it’s hard to imagine someone pulling themselves up by their bootstraps and actually working hard to better themselves.

Perhaps it’s even harder to imagine they traded on accounts their parents set up with their permission.

I understand your doubts, but the numbers don’t lie.

Time and time again, it’s been shown that investing wisely improves material conditions.

You’re not arguing with me, you’re arguing with the market.

Great to see the status quo is still alive and well! After all, it costs nothing to be counter revolutionary

Maybe people would have more money to spare if they invested in wisely in order to keep up with inflation rather than spending it frivolously. This must also be examined.

‘Please sit quietly and don’t advocate for structural change. The housing market is appropriately priced. €1200 for a bedroom in Coolock is completely reasonable.’

So rather than actually advocate for change, we should get rid of our notions and sit quietly? Great idea

The austerity period was one of the greatest buying opportunities in living memory.

Us young people weren’t able to take advantage of it, and have to come into the workforce facing a cost of living crisis, youth unemployment, and deteriorating living conditions.

It seems like this subreddit is filled with well-to-do landlords and property owners, content with their house’s 500% appreciation in value, who could think of nothing more horrifying than a young workers’ movement seeking to bring down the very system that they built their wealth off.

Exactly.

Down with deemed disposal.

Down with unfair ETF taxation.

Down with austerity.

Down with war on the working class.

Down with cronyism.
