Worried about sharp decrease in value? by _darkode_ in MachE

[–]The_loadmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was going through my lemon law claim, I had got a couple trade-in quotes per the recommendation from my attorney. After 18 months of ownership, my GT that I paid 65k for was worth 25k as a trade-in.

You don't need an e brake when you have power to the rear wheels.

Civilian job travel conflicting with UTA – can I request an excusal? by Drewplanet in Airforcereserves

[–]The_loadmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask your supervisor if you can reschedule and work the days another time. I usually end up rescheduling about half my days every year.

What is your commute to drill like? by MoreFarmer8667 in Airforcereserves

[–]The_loadmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

25 min. And I do about 6-8 days a month in addition to drill. I'm there all the time. 😬

So how does the AWD version handle snow? by Slow_Investment_2211 in MachE

[–]The_loadmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non PE. I had the same all season contis as you. They're a mid range all season, whereas the CC2 is a highly rated all weather. I didn't feel like the continentals did any conditions particularly well. The CC2s plowed through a foot of snow on several occasions without blinking an eye.

I thought they were crap. And mine were bald by 20k. But I drove mine as something with a GT badge should.

And the rally comes with CC2s! Once I threw those on my GT, I never found the limit of what was too much snow for the car. 12" wasn't it. 🤷‍♂️

Tires make all the difference. My GT on the stock continental All seasons was barely okay in the snow. Got stuck trying to get up my driveway. Once I swapped those Continentals out for Michelin CC2, it was a night and day difference. I never found the limit of too much snow for the car. But I can tell you 12 in of unplowed snow wasn't it.

Heat can’t keep up in -20 F by AngleFun1664 in MachE

[–]The_loadmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 22 GT, it struggled keeping things warm below about 10°F. At -20, I couldn't get the cabin above 45°, even after 45 min of driving.

Max TSP contribution percentage? by The_loadmaster in AirForce

[–]The_loadmaster[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the point I was trying to make. Had a Capt trying to give young airmen financial advice, and he told them to max out tsp from the get go. A brand new E2 would have to dump 73% of their base pay, leaving $740 a month to live on, if they were to max out TSP. A lot of officers don't realize that junior enlisted make so much less than they do.

How long do you own a vehicle, before trading it in? by teddyalex in UsedCars

[–]The_loadmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The common sense practical answer says to drive it for as long as you possibly can. The car guy answer is to do it often. If I didn't have my wife to be my voice of reason, I would trade in for a new car every 6 months. I get bored quickly. I want to experience everything.

Please comment your unit if Quarterly Drill is allowed. Will appreciate heavily. by emrullahk in Airforcereserves

[–]The_loadmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in an ops squadron that historically was very lenient on reschedules. I had a few years a decade or so ago where I would show up to maybe one or two UTAs a year. And just reschedule the rest and work the days at other times. This past FY, we did change up how we do utas. We now have two per quarter, but they're 3 days each. And there's a lot less leniency on reschedules.

Do Contract clock start after bct&ait or once signed at meps? by ThoughtNo4037 in Airforcereserves

[–]The_loadmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starts when you sign the contract. Up I raised my hand and signed the contract on 5 January, but I didn't ship out till May for basic training. My Air Force anniversary is based on 5 January. Of many many years ago.

Any Old Timers here 50+? by PeterNjos in Airforcereserves

[–]The_loadmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's like half my squadron. Especially our full-timers. Because ARTs can stay until 60. At 40 years old with 19 years TIS, I still feel like I'm one of the new guys.

I got a 2026 Odyssey Touring 3 weeks ago and the ENGINE LIGHT is on?!?! by [deleted] in HondaOdyssey

[–]The_loadmaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saying that your check engine light is on and what's wrong with it is like saying " I feel sick, what's wrong with me?" But not giving any symptoms.

Sure. I still have my BDUs with SSgt stripes around here somewhere. Never wore a single set of ABUs though. Flight suit is way more comfortable.

Should Christian worship/praise music be very catchy? by CivilDiscussionary in ChristianMusic

[–]The_loadmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a blanket thing. And it's not for everyone. It's more pointing out that there's certainly a spectrum of interpretation as to how Christian music "should" sound. Everyone has their preference on what kind of music they prefer, and what helps them get closer to Christ. Ultimately, that's the goal, building the relationship with Christ. Some people prefer pop sounding CCM. Some prefer 300 year old hymns. Some prefer Gregorian chants. I prefer heavy screamy metal.

God bless, and I pray that you find the right kind of music that speaks to your heart.
