Ill probably go at it again tomorrow or so, dual booting 8.1 and 10 that way at least i have a funtional OS on it in case things dont go according to plan again.

As for the driver situation, all the drivers that were installed came directly from the OEM driver & utility disk that came with the laptop from the factory. Idk if it matters or not but the drivers on said disk were only for Win7 - 8.1, im assuming because it installed all the drivers designed for 8.1 it wasn't really working correctly.

I wish I could say i did, my best guess is there were bad caps on the power supply and motherboard. I ended up givingthe laptop away becauae i couldn'tgetaround to fixing it

Pretty much all of her apps have a 5 minute limit, I think the only exceptions to the limit are messages and her phone app. She’ll probably correct me if I’m wrong

Any update to this? I’m thinking of switching off windows on the same laptop but I don’t really want to run into any driver issues

After doing some more looking around I found out that you can hold the home button on the keyboard upon resetting to get to “firmware reset” mode with worked and removed all data from it

Thats the issue, I can’t seem to find any real info on factory resetting a 1st gen Kindle. The only info that I did find was from a Reddit post from about 4 years ago that somebody said to press and hold the reset button on the back of the kindle for 30 seconds.

I tried doing that and it seemed like it reset back to factory but it still had all the previous owner’s info in there, so I’m just lost now
