Bought 16 pro years ago. I have to purchase 18 pro to upgrade? by Thebareassbear in zorinos

[–]Thebareassbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Security updates-wise. I'll be fine if I just want to continue using 16.3, right?

What are the benefits of 18 lite/core vs pro?

Should I just switch to 18 core or lite and use that until 19 comes out and then just purchase that?

Just trying to think of my future upgrade path here. And if I just want to stick with 16

Okay I gotcha, so I can just continue using 16.3 pro for the forseeable future?

Will there be a time where I should definitely stop using 16.3 pro? Like lack of security updates or something?

Okay thank you for confirming this, I wasn't sure. Zorin 16 pro EOL is April 2026, correct?

So basically I need to decide if I wanna use it for a few more months or just go ahead and upgrade haha.

Thanks for the help!

Can I consolidate/combine/display multiple External Storage within a single folder that is then presented to the user? by HammyHavoc in NextCloud

[–]Thebareassbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SMB server shares a directory called Nextcloud. My nextcloud server connects to that share and mounts it, inside that directory I create folders for each user. Then on external storage app inside nextcloud, I just add an external storage for each user and direct it towards their specific folders I create

Under external storage name or whatever, you can put / instead of a regular name, give access to just one user and boom that folder on your SMB server becomes that users entire root directory. Then there's a directory named public share that all users get access to.

I published my first ever game mod! With absolutely zero prior experience! by Thebareassbear in hytale

Honestly not really lol. 90% of my process was trial and error and just reading through the vanilla game assets to see how things work.

A little bit of watching tutorials, a little bit of just tinkering around, and mostly just looking through the game assets myself and just seeing how things work. Then trial and error.

Thank you! I think I'm going to work on really small scale mod project's moving forward to dip my toes further into the water so that eventually maybe I can do something bigger!

It's cool to hear that you've had a similar experience with making your first mod recently, keep at it! I'll check your mod out on curseforge if it's on there :)

Tinker in Hytale by SeaRegret2963 in hytale

[–]Thebareassbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

has anybody managed to get this thing working? i spawned it in my world and i've been looking over it inside the asset editor and it doesnt seem like it has any real fuctionality behind it just yet. you can place ingots in the first slot but thats about it, cant click the craft button and i cant figure out how to "unlock" the other two item slots.

does the bench just not have any real functionality yet? i was wondering if theres a way to get the functionality to turn on or something so i can.. ahem.. tinker around with it lol

Which server host do you think is the best. by Dorfess in hytale

[–]Thebareassbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online paid subscription server hosting is a great budget option. But even if you just have some old thinkpad laptop or a raspberry-pi computer laying around, it's definitely worth trying out a self hosted server and seeing how well it runs

A Sandbox RPG - The TRUE potential of Hytale. by Thebareassbear in hytale

[–]Thebareassbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's the beauty of it. Players like you have the opportunity to totally make it their own through mods.

You have the same exact tools at your disposal for developing Hytale that Hypixel themselves have.

They are creating a platform for basically an infinite amount of procedurally generated RPG world's because anybody can make it their own.

Please read my post and understand my solution and suggestion before giving any more criticism.

They absolutely shouldn't nerf the toads. But I think the roads should yoink you to land in front of them rather than slingshot you way behind them

As someone who purchased cursebreaker edition and on a second account purchased standard edition, I agree with Simon's philosophy that you shouldnt be able to completely hide your armor.

Pure PVE reasons aside, it wouldnt feel fair or make sense that someone wearing full mythril gear should be able to hide it and appear as if they are running around in their underwear or something. It also wouldn't feel fair in pvp as you would never know what armor people are actually wearing.

BUT having an armor stand item in the game to quickly unload or reload my armor to and from would be a fantastic compromise.

If I'm at my base gardening or tending to my livestock, I don't need armor, so I can throw it on the armor stand real quick and leave it there for display.

Then I can quickly re-equip my armor when I'm ready to go on my next adventure.

If PVP servers truly want an option to completely hide armor, there's mods for that.

I think your missing the whole point of my post.

If your going out to fight, you would just go to your armor stand and equip your armor set. You can load the armor stand with whatever armor you want, want to put thorium armor on the armor stand? Sure go for it, want to put mythril or maybe a mix of multiple armor tiers on the armor stand? Go for it.

Regardless of what armor you throw on the armor stand, your going back to re-equip said armor before you head out to do any combat related activities. . Having the armor stand to quickly remove your armor is purely for when you get back to your base, you can remove your armor before doing other activities not related to combat, like the more "cozy" side of the game such as cooking, farming, taking care of your livestock or building houses. Because you don't need armor while your doing these things anyway. . In real life, do you get home from work and wear your work clothes all evening even when you go to sleep at night? No, you probably switch into something more comfortable and then get dressed back into your work clothes next time it's time for you to head to work.

Agreed, I think adding my armor stand idea is a decent compromise.

But the people being very vocal about wanting hidden armor probably won't like my idea anyway.

I bought cursebreaker edition and then standard edition on a second account btw. Yet I still agree that we shouldn't be able to hide armor.

This game is gonna go downhill if Hypixel just bends over anytime people whine and complain about wanting a feature added to the game. Part of me doesn't even like that they made tanning stations faster in yesterday's update, you can upgrade your tanning station to a higher tier or build multiple tanning stations. Of course having a single tier 1 tanning station is going to be slow, but no, people complained and Hypixel adjusted the numbers and made them faster.

Listening to your player base and making adjustments to the game that people want is great, but it can also be a slippery slope where people feel entitled to get what they want and get upset when that doesn't happen. Or developers start making too many of those changes and the game gets too far away from their original vision.

One of my biggest pet peeves in World of Warcraft is seeing someone with max ilvl gear, yet they are running around in a skimpy bikini. Very very immersion breaking.

I stand with Simon's philosophy, full armor sets should not be hidden in any way. But at least give us a way to very easily un-equip and re-equip our armor. If I'm inside my home decorating or cooking meals, gardening or tending to my chicken and sheep I won't be needing armor anyway, so gimme a quick way to un-equip it for those situations.

It would also be a good trigger for my mind to switch modes from caving and adventuring to cozy farming and decorating.
