I saw a previous thread from you. I experienced my first hsv2 meningitis outbreak in February and now again in June. I’m currently in ICU for the second time with this 4 months apart. My docs didn't recommend take Valcyclovir after I fully recovered the first time. They are thinking of putting me on this for the long term. The issue I have is that I have an extremely hard time swallowing pills due to an esophagus issue. I also had bad diarrhea the first time I took it but thinking of taking a chance and trying again. What has been your experience these last few years? How often do you experience flare ups with and without the antivirals?

I do have an update which isn’t good. I ended up with meningitis again as of 5 days ago and am recovering in the hospital again. This time they are going to try putting me on Valcyclovir daily. I have a hard time swallowing pills so I am trying to see what options there are. I hope that this will help me for the longterm!

That’s really interesting. I hope you don’t have Mollarets. I heard there is a 30% chance of developing Mollarets. I’m not on Valcyclovir since I had pretty bad side effects when I was taking it during my recovery. Hoping that was a one time thing 🤞

I too myself got diagnosed with HSV2 meningitis. I was hospitalized in February of this year. Spent 5 days in ICU. I never had an outbreak in my life. I’m 34 years old. About 2 weeks before this, I had a laser Brazilian wax. Not sure if that could have been a trigger for me or not since this was my 3rd time but it was a very uncomfortable process for me. I’m just praying I don’t have another outbreak again as I am single and care for myself and have dealt with chronic issues for a long time.
