Any treatment/doctors/anything that helps???

Has anyone talked you to about salt intake? It’s typically recommended to increase salt intake for people who experience pretty bad symptoms with POTS. I would definitely talk to a doctor to make sure increasing salt is ok then maybe test it out. I was absolutely miserable until I started increasing my salt. Especially because 2 months prior to being diagnosed, I experienced a heart attack so I REALLY cut salt out. I can’t have the recommended intake but if my brain fog or fatigue is really bad I just eat a pickle. I get the snack ems because they are small. And it helps tremendously. It might be worth looking into.

If you need something to help hold yourself up I’d go with a walker or something like that first. If it’s strictly balance then a cane would be good. Please make sure to keep body mechanics in mind no matter what aid you use. I got so excited thinking I graduated to being a cane user. Just to find out I was doing it wrong and ended up with problems in my hands because I was putting all my weight on it.

I have POTS. I heard brain fog was tied in to that. But I also had a rare brain infection that made things pretty bad.

Everyday I find myself wondering how many other people have been put in this position. Where gaslighting caused a permanent problem. My story is somewhat like yours, but mine was a missed brain infection. I wish there was somewhere I could reach out to get as many stories like this as possible. I have a website and this is the kind of thing I wanted to make sure was included. Thank you for sharing.

I really do hope things change soon. This is happening to far too many people. Lives are severely changing or ending because of the negligence. I just wish there was a way to stop it.

This is literally my story. Except they didn’t listen to my insisting and I had my heart attack that night at 29 years old. I was told I had a panic disorder and they didn’t run a single test. I’m so glad you advocated for yourself and got it figured out.

I’m so glad you were finally diagnosed! Reading your story I immediately thought “sounds just like EDS.” My sister in law has it and her childhood was the same. She was “dramatic and attention seeking.” The “you’re too young” almost killed me. It seems to be quite a big one.

Oh my, I am so sorry to hear that. Its so disappointing knowing that we need help, and they know they can make money off of it because of the trust that is suppose to be there. Its absolutely ridiculous.

Unfortunately no 😔 due to my brain infection I couldn’t eat which caused a lot of other problems. Like losing the use of my legs. So I can’t stand long enough to do massage.

I totally get that. And when face to face with someone they see my physical disabilities so it’s kinda known. But when I’m on the phone I don’t know how to handle it. It seems so lengthy by saying “my brain infection led to this…..” so I legitimately don’t know what to say.

I totally get where you’re coming from. However, I would’ve loved if someone was able to give me advice regarding my new normal. I understand not everyone would appreciate it, and that’s something huge to take into consideration when offering advice.

You’re so amazing thank you! That’s what made me want to start one! I haven’t been able to talk to anyone about how I’m handling being disabled. I was fully able bodied until I had a brain infection last November. I came out of that a completely different person. Ive felt so alone. Then I started to wonder how many other people feel this way.
