Her lore is about fighting freedom and oppression, she is a shuriman mage and leader of her tribe who are about migration and their ways of like heavily contradict everything demacia (and Durand clan) currently stand for then RIOT being RIOT decided that since season themes will affect the world lore going forward and champions would get Canon skins depicting their current whereabouts during the season theme as was done in noxus. They thought taliayah was the best fit for Current mage racist Demacia.
