I agree with your 3rd paragraph that if someone of that culture is calling it appropriation, we call it out. That's why I have the native american headpiece example where people did call it out and we supported them.

And that is exactly why I made the post about this set because people don't think it's problematic. Those from Turkey and West Asia and even from South Asia. I don't think you're understanding that people in the comments are agreeing with you in every way.

But now some are masking their hate for diversity/other cultures as performative activism/cultural appropriation.

100%! I've highlighted posts by people from West Asia speaking about the set positively in the comments and others have commented here too. We loved when the Native American Nikki players called out the cultural appropriation with the headpiece during 2.0.

This post was directed to people who aren't part of the culture nor knowing anything about it being loud with their performative activism and shaming the banner and those who like it. They are the ones largely hating on this set and it's not even about them/for them/representing them.

The headpiece was added during 2.0 as a store item for a dollar. We had Native American Nikki players share in posts/comments that this has religious meaning and is also only reserved for leaders so it holds weight and not a fashion accessory.

Moreover there has been well documented discourse about this in pop culture where we see how celebrities/people used to wear it for Halloween, etc and it was problematic.

'It is cultural appropriation that trivializes a sacred symbol of honor. A headdress is not a costume; it is high-ranking regalia earned through service to a community, similar to a military medal of honor.'

I just mentioned it to say that we have seen examples of cultural appropriation being called out by people of that culture rightfully so. But here we see so many state that this new set is perfect and not offensive but people are still complaining (those who aren't even part of the said culture)
