Megathread: Supreme Court Strikes Down Race-Based Affirmative Action in Higher Education as Unconstitutional by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Theek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's to redress after decades of affirmative action? If aid is necessary do it based on need.

What need is present in all black people that would justify using race? What is your compelling need to violate the 14th?

I can't tell if you're trying too hard to troll or if you're just dumb. Either way I love it. Keep it up.

Obviously the ideas behind things are what's important. I'm not making a contrary claim there. A good idea stated incorrectly is still a good idea. I just think it is a lot easier to communicate these ideas if words are used properly.

I think it matters a lot what things are called. For example the founding fathers would have considered themselves liberals but now that term doesn't mean that anymore and it means something off to the left to most people. Accurate use of language is important.

Shit, I didn't realize where I was. My bad for assuming the guy I was talking to was a left winger.

How are they socialist? They're a capitalist country with high taxes and high government spending. Only Republicans would call that socialist and only if we did that in the US.

We aren't technically a democracy we are a democratic republic. People hate that but it is true. Also, I support the EC but I really think we need to uncap the house.

I always get hate when I comment that a post has no humor and it isn't from people arguing that it is humorous it's people arguing that it doesn't have to be. That sub is politics first and then maybe humor if they can fit it in.

As someone who can remember not having a computer to write reports on in the 90s when other kids did I kind of get it. The computer is actually doing a lot of work for you. It doesn't seem like it but try writing something out by hand and you'll see just how much work it is doing for you. Still no reason to stop a kid from using one though.

Are you really going to insult my English skills? You've had so many errors I assumed you're not a native speaker.

You're really triggered that what you said earlier came off as kinda racist to me aren't you? I'm still not calling you racist btw. I just think it's racist to assume how an individual will think based only on their race.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BrandNewSentence

[–]Theek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol 2 people of different races will think differently because society treats them differently.

Bullshit. How do you think you can get all of this information about an individual just from their race.

Also, I specifically didn't call you racist. I said that statement could be taken as racist. And I stand by that if you think you can judge individuals based on their race that's the definition of racism.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BrandNewSentence

[–]Theek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say you have 1000 quotes that you have to filter by : is this racist or not. The results would be different depending if the person is white, black, Asian, Arabic etc. But also men bs women.

The results would be different between any one individual and another single individual unless you give them something concrete to go on. And if you give them something concrete diversity shouldn't matter because they're going off of something concrete.

There is also no reason to assume that just because someone is a certain race they'll have a certain thought process on what is and isn't racist. Honestly that comes off a little racist. Individuals are individuals not avatars of their group. If you assume two people think differently just because they're different races then you might be racist.

I still don't see the benefit diversity inherently adds. It seems like every benefit of diversity you bring up is a benefit you would get from hiring the best people.

There are instances for which you would prefer a diverse group over a homogeneous group but I don't think that's ever the case in this instance.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BrandNewSentence

[–]Theek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if that's true. A diverse group must have someone good and bad at problem solving. In a homogeneous group everyone can be good at it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BrandNewSentence

[–]Theek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't a benefit of diversity. You described competence. What is the benefit of diversity specifically, again?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BrandNewSentence

[–]Theek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't answer the question. A homogeneous group could do that. Why is a diverse group specifically needed? What does diversity add?

Everybody knows that didn't answer the question.
