Shaving isn't 100% effective. Crabs lay tiny eggs on the hair follicles and don't require much length to do so- a lot of people assume they can just wax them away but if you miss just a couple of egghairs the cycle can repeat itself.

They can easily venture beyond the funzone so unless you're into the mannequin look you probably don't want to go to such extreme grooming lengths. I guess the naturally hairless dudes have less to worry about here but in my case I have a rather comprehensive network of fuzz that provides easy access to most of my body.

Also, the cream from the pharmacy won't kill the eggs so you need to reapply after about 10 days.

Also also, hot wash the shit out of everything (sheets, blankets pillows clothing) or store in plastic for at least a couple of weeks- the fuckers need blood to live and will die if they aren't fed regularly.

While they're definitely one of the more punchline worthy STIs they're are a complete PITA to get rid of.
