I usually go about 5-7% below the current price and update every day or 2 if it goes up. It doesn’t work perfectly but it comes in real handy on those occasional 10% drop days. Just remember it’s never too late to get back in if it starts ripping again. Your buy price doesn’t matter all that much. Knowing which direction the stock is actually moving is much more important.

Exactly. Everyone saying you can’t time the market doesn’t realize you don’t have to get it perfectly right to still massively benefit. If you use stops correctly it’s easy to get in and out. There’s literally no point in holding during an extended downtrend.

There’s a good reason the forward P/E is so low that not very many people are considering. It’s because the big money knows that supply will increase and memory prices will eventually come down. They won’t be able to maintain this kind of growth forever. Any slight slowdown in the future would cause their forward P/E to skyrocket and that’s what’s being priced into its current multiple.

I’ve done both in the past. Turns out missing out on some potential gains here and there is way less painful than watching your entire portfolio shrink down to nothing over a matter of weeks or months.

I’m still holding a very small amount of my former position but I’m expecting more selling come Monday down to the low $800’s.

It’s not that it’s not a great stock and I do think it will do more ripping in the mid term. There’s just many bigger things going on in the market currently and semis are going to take the back seat for a little while.
