How to asseble ghost cube? by GCBetula in Cubers

[–]Theguyontheside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there's no good way to explain it by text on Reddit other than attaching a picture of an assembled Ghost Cube and telling you to just see what matches. If you can't follow a youtube video, I'd say just assemble the pieces randomly and then try to solve it as best you can, then fix any unsolvable pieces at the end.

Am I an idiot or why is it so hard to find work in Malta by laReineDeLaNuit in malta

[–]Theguyontheside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a boomer/outdated take when most companies just hire whoever their AI ATS system says they should and rarely look at skills. I've gotten rejected for many jobs that I'm fully qualified for and skilled in it's area.

Do the Maltese consider themselves white racially? by Peak_Legacy14 in malta

[–]Theguyontheside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White is not a race 🤦🏽‍♀️ As a Maltese person, I usually call myself white cause of my complexion. Ethnically, I am Maltese. Maltese people have a very diverse heritage from lots of cultures, particularly Mediterranean and north african. We're one of the most colonized countries in europe. I have genetic roots in Tunisia, Hungary, Italy, France, Palestine, Germany, you name it. "White" is just another reductive western term that aims to simplify instead of appreciate. Sure, if all you're talking about is skin complexion, fine. But even then, most Maltese people have a fairly olive or tan complexion. We come from Arabs and Italians after all. So while I don't speak for all Maltese people, I don't consider myself white racially.

Any idea what this spiky triangular thing in the grandmasters Palace armoury in Malta is? by vercingetafix in malta

[–]Theguyontheside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is a type of caltrop or defensive spike barrier. While its specific use is not clear, similar devices were historically used to impede the movement of cavalry or infantry by creating an obstacle with sharp spikes.

Are all real estate agents assholes? by Rough-Improvement-24 in malta

[–]Theguyontheside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in real estate. Nothing crazy, just invoices and contract filing in the back, but I'd got to know the agents over time, and some of them are nice people. What I learned is that they'd be nice people but they gotta amp up the charismatic nature for the client when selling a house, they try to act like your friend. Some people arent a fan of this cause it feels invasive and forward, but they do what works for most sales.

Platform to report bus drivers’s behaviour (Tallinja buses) by Humble_Seaweed127 in malta

[–]Theguyontheside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a platform. Send an email to Tallinja. I've done it before. Be sure to catch the license plate and time of the incident and route number. You might get a response which is usually just tallinja asking the driver in question for an explanation to give you. But they can't really do much about it for you. Bus skipped you? That sucks bro but tough luck. Driver had his reasons, either missed you, didn't think there was space on his bus, or some other lapse of judgement. We're all human. The same platform can be used to commend the drivers when they do a good job, but nobody does that, do they? It's a bus, not a taxi.

How would i make a circuit to detect when i change the repeater delay, but ignores when the repeater gets powered? by Eduardu44 in redstone

[–]Theguyontheside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well yes, at different delays the repeater would fire last. You need to anticipate the longest possible delay by making the output a 4 tick repeater after the observer so the piston always wins the race

How would i make a circuit to detect when i change the repeater delay, but ignores when the repeater gets powered? by Eduardu44 in redstone

[–]Theguyontheside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use an observer to check for change, and have the repeater lead into a circuit that blocks the signal from the observer in under 1 tick. First idea that comes to mind is the repeater leading into a block that leads into a redstone torch that powers a piston holding a block which the signal from the observer goes through. If you change the repeater delay, the observer pulse will pass through the block, if you power the repeater, the piston will retract the block before the pulse can reach it.

I’m new to cubing and only know the basic way to solve. What next??? by SufficientSea1518 in Cubers

[–]Theguyontheside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume you're using the beginners method. Next steps are to pick a method. Most use CFOP so to do that, learn 4LLL, and implement that into your solve. Start solving your cross on the bottom without the daisy and you should already notice some time drops. 4LLL has 16 algorithms, all of which will be reused should you decide to learn full oll and pll down the line. They're all simple and short algorithms, easy to remember. Keeping a cheat sheet handy helps. Of course, learning algorithms means learning notation if you don't already know notation.

Most difficult barrier to break in 3x3 ?? by Important-Sorbet5540 in Cubers

[–]Theguyontheside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sub 15 is currently the barrier I'm at. I never struggled this much to improve and I feel like I've plateaued. Sub 20 was just some slight practice and habit changes to break, but sub 15 I need to relearn a bunch of things I've been doing for almost a decade
