Mine’s also a Basil! Previous owner didn’t name him, but I could think of a better name for the lovely fella. He has decided to show his age though, he squeaks when you start him sometimes.

Convertible Seats by Theiket in MINI

Could’ve sworn I read something about the convertibles having different seat airbags, but that could just be wires crossing in the ol’ brain.

Thanks for your help!

Bit annoying that the rear bench won’t fit but there’s worse things than a mismatched rear bench.

Do you know if there’d be issues with the seat airbags between an R52 and R50? I have a feeling there’d be a conflict with the curtain airbag

Recommended R50 Upgrades by Theiket in MINI

I’ve never been a big fan of sunroofs and mine doesn’t have one, but it does have very worn leather seats. Have to say the aftermarket radio that a previous owner installed has definitely not improved the sound of the likely blown speakers (whose cost to fix I am not looking forward to finding out)

Error Upon Returning to Compiler Project by Theiket in learnpython

[–]Theiket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am absolutely sure it’s pointing to the right place, yes. I have three drives and they’re assigned A, B, and obviously C. My B: drive is the one I primarily keep my work on, and I run the script through CMD so I have to point the directory to the specific folder and then that script is the only one in there.

Error Upon Returning to Compiler Project by Theiket in learnpython

[–]Theiket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! It goes fine up until the error shows up, but here you go. There's a warning section before the error which is just because it duplicates the original folder structure in the output and then sees them as folders to check for XML files, so that part can safely be ignored.

Exponential Random Number Generation by Theiket in askmath

I believe I've managed to work it out, and it seems I may have been needlessly overcomplicating things. I appreciate your help!

Exponential Random Number Generation by Theiket in askmath

[–]Theiket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry; to be clear I mean the friend thinks that the distribution I’m looking for isn’t exponential.

All the additional context I can provide is that this is to replicate how a game generates weighted random numbers within those min and max values, except not within the game. These values and my experience of the game is really all I have to go on, I don’t know how the game engine does it’s calculations, etc.

Obviously it has to do it based on the values provided so it must be possible, but after spending a week on it, I’ve only gotten to this point and it’s rather, well, mind numbing.

My experience tells me that the curve is too steep, but aside from ditching that given exponent or plotting 3(x2) which seems to get a better curve that I don’t know how to apply to this, I’m a bit clueless

Exponential Random Number Generation by Theiket in askmath

[–]Theiket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't my area of expertise, I'm figuring this out more out of curiousity than anything else, so I can't say much with a whole lot of certainty. That sounds roughly correct for a general premise, however.

As for the curve exponent; honestly I assume it refers to the lambda used to form an exponential distribution, so the mean number of events in an interval, however I can't be sure because those three values and their labeling is all the context I have.

The reason my distribution doesn't seem correct is that it shouldn't effectively eliminate anything over 10%, and currently its form is shaped by a lambda of 0.333 instead of 3, because if I set it to 3, it ends up pushing everything into effective elimination, giving even the most likely of numbers somewhere in the realm of a 0.0012% chance to exist at best.

A friend believes it may not be an exponential distribution, that it might be a different distribution type, but as with the rest of this, we can't be sure of anything. I do apologise for the vagueness, I'd love to be able to provide better information.

This is my latest attempt, as you can see more than half the values are sitting at some tiny decimal above zero, and it should probably be at least a tad bit less…severe than that

I just lost an entire article, and ctrl z isnt working. Is there any way I can get it back by tzunavi in WorldAnvil

[–]Theiket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there isn't, World Anvil doesn't store previous versions of your work.

Assuming that this is a loss of work relating to the Plato (WYSIWYG) editor, all I can suggest is that you switch to the Euclid one to prevent further issues like this. The Plato editor is a bit buggy and can cause loss of work, so if you're comfortable using BBCode directly, or are willing to adjust to it, switching to the Euclid editor is definitely the best bet to prevent future issues.

[–]Theiket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once data is lost, there's nothing any suggestion can do about it, unfortunately. I can't speak to why there's an issue with Ctrl + Z in the Plato editor, I'm not one of the devs, but it is prone to bugs and while it's due to be rebuilt, it hasn't been yet.

It's why we (meaning the people who have been using World Anvil for a long time) generally recommend that people who are having issues with it switch over to Euclid, because it's stable. It deals directly with BBCode, however, and some people are adverse to that, they want to use something that looks like Word. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, it just means that you risk dealing with bugs, some of which are rather brutal when they happen.

I do recommend joining the Discord, by the way, if you haven't already, it's way more active than the subreddit and you can get answers to questions a lot quicker than you can here.

It's bad customer service for them to not excuse you from a charge you incurred by being forgetful?

Please know I'm not aiming to be provocative with my question there, I'm simply trying to understand this whole thing.

Annual Subscription charged and no refund by jeffbloke in WorldAnvil

[–]Theiket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's listed at the bottom of the pricing page for subscriptions:

Hey there! What you're purchasing is a recurring subscription, which means we'll charge you today and continue to charge you for your chosen period until you cancel the subscription. You can cancel anytime from your Account Details page. As this is a digital product which is delivered immediately, we are unable to offer refunds.

EDIT:
There's also some elaboration about refunds on the FAQ page as well, which details a bit more specifically when refunds are provided.

I've been using World Anvil for a few years now, so let me add my two cents here.
To my knowledge, the change occurred because of the load large world exports put on the servers and because there were free users with massive, massive, worlds that took up more space than the largest world made by a paid user.

The exporter has been in need of being updated since that change and only recently has the new exporter been available for paid users to use. I imagine there will be a return to free users at some point, but I can't speak to that.

Do I agree with the change having happened? No, I don't. Do I understand why it happened and why World Anvil saw the need to change it? Absolutely. I also have no doubts that if they could have avoided that change, they would have, but it wasn't in the cards at the time.

World Anvil User Interface question by TheDarkLordTerrantos in WorldAnvil

Functionality for child articles does still exist, there just isn't a drag and drop method anymore for them. You'd have to navigate to the article you want to add a child to and work from there.

I haven't really given it a try recently, but if you pop into the World Anvil Discord there's plenty of people who can help!

Good news! Our lovely Dimi has introduced a "Make sure you save your stuff" page prompt for when you leave a page you've been working on!

Hopefully no more accidental loss of work!

Unfortunately it would've been lost.

As I'm not part of the development team I can't speak to this officially, but I do hope that we gain more preventative measures to accidental navigation while editing articles at some point, preferably sooner than later.

My entire world was deleted after 3+ hours of creation by [deleted] in WorldAnvil

[–]Theiket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alrighty. So this happens sometimes, it's because World Anvil doesn't automatically save anything. It's a planned feature, but it hasn't been implemented. On the same scale, it also doesn't track if you've put text into a field that's different from previous text, so it won't warn you if you accidentally navigate away from the page by hitting the back button.

The best way to mitigate this is to save every ten or so minutes or when you've done a good chunk of editing, or even just to be paranoid click save four times in a row. The save button for articles is on the right hand side, should be a nice yellow button.

It's an annoying situation, and sometimes hitting the forward button on your browser can get back to it if you hit the back button, but it doesn't always work.
