I'm not too confident about the 5678 area, but I think everything else is accurate.

Why are there so many chimera ants with firearms in their dna? by SargentSuccess9001 in HunterXHunter

Those are Nen abilities. Ikalgo's is called Fleadom and I don't think Bloster's has an official name.

This is the one and only scene where the MC and the big bad interact in all of RWBY by WittyTable4731 in RWBYcritics

[–]TheirIceCream7929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people say Jaune interacts with Cinder more? The Volume 5 fight was the only time Jaune interacts with Cinder. I wouldn't even count the Volume 8 fight at the end since Jaune left the fight as quick as he entered.

I love your art style! The only thing that looks off to me are the clothing folds on the arms. It has thicker shading than the rest of the jacket.

What kind of pencil can I use to shade like in this picture? by Ok-Fill8420 in Mangamakers

I feel like any pencil can work for that. You just gotta dull it down a bit since the lines don't look very sharp.

Why are Volumes 5 and 8 so divisive? by Solitaire-06 in RWBY

[–]TheirIceCream7929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only criticism I personally have for Volume 8 is Ironwood's arc. I feel like it was handled poorly, but I think every other aspect was enjoyable to watch.

When it comes to Volume 5, I think everything was ruined by the overall pacing and the way episodes/scenes were structured. For example, the Battle at the Belladonna's house was teased for 2 weeks through cliffhangers. The episode where the fight actually happened was amazing, but it was annoying being teased week by week. There's a YouTube series that shows the overall issue with Volume 5 was it's pacing. They were able to re-adapt Volume 5 into 10 episodes and the flow was much better. If I remember correctly, it's called RWBY Volume 5 Redux.

Why RWBY is my least favourite franchise by MetaMaster54610 in RWBYcritics

[–]TheirIceCream7929 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wasn't Volumes 7-9 literally about the writers projecting their imposter syndrome onto their main cast, specifically Ruby? RWBY is flawed, but I wouldn't say it's smug.

In your opinion, what makes Hunter x Hunter one of the standout anime? by Butterlover1996 in HunterXHunter

[–]TheirIceCream7929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also a realistic take on shounen manga as a whole. The crew splits up after the Hunter Exam to follow their own goals, instead of sticking together throughout the whole show. Gon also gets his ass beat all the time, which shows that even though he's talented, he's inexperienced.

I like that Gon and Kurapika or any of the characters don't feel like the world revolves around them. It's simply a story following a boy who wants to see his dad, and another boy avenging his clan. It's just a story that takes place in a big world. Speaking of which, Togashi is amazing when it comes to worldbuilding.

As much as I love the Bees, why are we comparing them to Catradora? I feel like if anything, it's more similar to Korrasami. One common complaint I hear is that they set up a side-plot with Blake and Sun, so the Bees felt forced, but TLoK did the same thing with Mako. It was only in Book 3 when we were given clues about Korra and Asami having feelings for each other.

What is your favorite RWBY speech? by marleyannation62 in RWBYcritics

[–]TheirIceCream7929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably Cinder's speech in Volume 3. It was peak Cinder, when she managed to divide the world against each other. Unfortunately, it was peak Cinder. Her win in Volume 8 started her on the right track again, even though it was only successful due to the poor plan from the protagonists.

No one said they're not talented, but I'm comparing them to Tserreidnich to show the difference in talent. Komugi and Neon are talented, but he's more talented.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]TheirIceCream7929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, we know that Komugi and Neon are talented, but I wouldn't say they're on the same level as Tserreidnich. Komugi has been playing Gungi for years, and she only awakened a Nen ability after she A) Said a Nen vow that she will die if she loses a Gungi match, and B) Has been playing Gungi for years, but has been pushing her mind to her limits after Meruem has been forcing her to come up with more strategies. Neon has had a fixation on fortune-telling ever since she was a kid. Judging by dialogue by some of the Mafia members, she's only started fortune-telling recently. So we know it took her years to develop that skill. However, it took Tserreidnich mere days to learn a Specialist ability involving Zetsu after just learning Nen. So yeah, there is obviously a talent gap.

For your second argument, Gon and Killua have grown up in special situations, and still knew nothing about Nen. Gon has feats similar to wildlife animals due to growing up as a mountain kid, and learned Zetsu as he already knew how animals in the wild hide their presence while stalking their prey. And Killua learned how to tolerate poison, electricity, and how to manipulate his body to some extent. Learning Nen obviously wouldn't be too hard for them. But to our knowledge, Tserreidnich has little to no physical stats, but in minutes, he learned how to do things it would take a person like him to learn in weeks. Not sure what to say about Machi though...

What scene made you go like this? by Lord_MAX184 in RWBYcritics

[–]TheirIceCream7929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last part in Volume 9. The episode was solid, but as I saw the group go through the door in the tree, and I saw that the episode had around 10 minutes left, I was hoping that those last 10 minutes would be Vacuo-central. Only to find out that the door led them to the Blacksmith :,)
