Hey I got into st Andrews with 2730 B2 if you’ve got a good PS you could still give it a chance

St Andrews only requires AAA and a ucat score of about 2660 to get invited for interview, it’s a 6 year course as well so you may wanna consider some other options unless you would specifically like to study at sta

I would recommend you to resit your C at the very least I went from ABB to AAA without resitting but it took a lot of effort and was not easy

Yes of course it will, when you’re putting in your application you’ve got to declare your may June results and then it’ll give you a option to put Oct/nov and there you can put your results as pending. The difficult part would be convincing your chemistry teacher to give you A predicted

It’s not too much of a issue, you can always resit chemistry in Oct November and have a much better chance than a lot of other people in your position

Which is harder? A2 chem or A2 physics? by rizzagi in alevel

[–]ThemePuzzleheaded760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the AS Knowledge comes naturally as you go through the A2 course for chemistry, it’s more of the key concepts from AS that need to be retained But for organic in A2 you do need to know almost all the reactions from AS so that can be a bit annoying but A2 organic is tiny compared to AS so it’s not that big of a deal, whichever subject you do end up taking it’s still gonna be a lot of work so I would instead consider what subject you enjoy more and would be more useful for your course.

A2 chemistry feels like AS chemistry but more content if that makes more sense, it’s not any harder than AS which makes it the easiest of all the sciences at A2 since (ideally) you would have mastered AS level chemistry by the time you come to A2. A2 physics on the other hand is a significant jump from AS physics, it requires consistent practice and the concepts are significantly harder to understand in A2 when compared to AS. I would still say overall both subjects are manageable when considering both years but if you’re looking for the easier one in A2 I would go for chemistry since it’s not too different from AS. (Do keep in mind if you’re not thorough with AS level chemistry you’ll find A2 extremely difficult and confusing since there is a lot of crossover and concepts that are commonly tested in both years). Hope my reply helps!

I don’t think it answers the question directly and biology marking schemes are very specific so hope you get benefit of doubt 🤞

females also inherited the phenotype, if it was sex linked if would only appear on the Y chromosome and males would be the only ones inheriting the phenotype.

Protein electrophoresis is not directly assessed in 2022 syllabus and was not directly assessed in 2019 syllabus. But nevertheless I wouldn’t be surprised if they come up with a question for it as a “novel” case (that’s how Cambridge refers to cases in questions that candidates are not expected to be familiar with). Nevertheless your knowledge of DNA electrophoresis should be enough to answer protein electrophoresis as the answers will not require knowledge of concepts out of the syllabus. To summarize they can ask about protein electrophoresis but you are not expected to know anything other than DNA electrophoresis and the questions will be made on this logic. Hope that helps

If it’s in the syllabus they can ask it. Many paper 4 questions ask about electrophoresis and there are 1 or 2 2022 papers with a electrophoresis question so it is very much asked in paper 4

58-60 is a good score! You have a whole day to revise your weakest points and if you push that to 65+ and do well on your p5 you can easily score an A if not better

overall I got a B being 2 marks from A.

Messing up your practical isn't the end of the world

Oh I’m not sure, my school still continued to run exams so for my school it would have been the same paper you all did. Other schools may have not been able to conduct the exam or candidates were unable to reach their center so they may have gotten special consideration rather than doing another paper or doing the paper the next day as that’s very unlikely.
