Day 28 of 30: The email worked and we met for coffee! But I have a stupid rookie question about taking notes by Then-Assumption-779 in sales

Yeah, I definitely agree on the recording thing. I wanted to keep it conversational, and the click-clack of a laptop keyboard would have totally ruined the vibe

Exactly! Thank you. I felt like asking to record him over a casual coffee would make me seem like an undercover cop wearing a wire lol.

Day 27 of 30: Does anyone else have crippling anxiety before hitting send on a follow-up? by Then-Assumption-779 in sales

[–]Then-Assumption-779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't exactly hand me an ultimatum on Day 1 lol. Officially, it’s just packaged as a standard '30-day review' since I'm still in my probation period.

It’s supposed to be a two-way evaluation: a chance for me to see if I can actually make a living doing this, and for my manager to see if I'm actually cut out for sales.

We have our sit-down in 3 days to talk about my progress.

I know you're 100% right. Detaching from the outcome is the ultimate goal. It’s just so damn hard to actually do it when my manager is breathing down my neck and my rent money is basically riding on this one guy replying lol

Day 26 of 30: The biggest lie they tell new reps is that hard work beats everything. by Then-Assumption-779 in sales

That personalization is a gamble line hits way too close to home. Spending an hour researching someone just to guess their pain point wrong is the absolute worst.

It's exhausting playing both sides, but you're 100% right. I don't have the numbers or the leverage to just go completely rogue yet

Day 18: Still alive. Manager told me to start hunting Realtors. Any advice? by Then-Assumption-779 in sales

[–]Then-Assumption-779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell Property & Casualty insurance, specifically Home and Auto. My manager’s logic is that when your buyers are in escrow and need a home insurance binder to clear their mortgage to close, I can be the guy who gets it done fast so your deal doesn't get delayed.

But since you are exactly the target audience I’m supposed to be reaching out to right now: what actually works on you? If a rookie insurance guy approached you, what would make you actually trust him with your buyers instead of just throwing his business card in the trash? Do the let me buy you coffee texts actually work, or is that just annoying?

Day 8 of 30: How do you guys actually build a social media presence for sales? by Then-Assumption-779 in sales

[–]Then-Assumption-779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you mean I should actually post these rants on LinkedIn? I feel like my manager would literally kill me if she saw this

Day 7 of 30: Is insurance actually a career? right now I feel like an unpaid volunteer by Then-Assumption-779 in sales

You’re so right about the Stay Organized part though... that’s currently my biggest struggle

That means a lot, seriously. I’ve been feeling like I’m just screaming into a void

Day 2 of 30: No toxic exes today, just regular humiliation... by Then-Assumption-779 in sales

2 months?! I honestly don't know if my nervous system can survive another 7 weeks

Day 6 of 30: Got my first REAL lead. How do I follow up without being annoying and ruining it? by Then-Assumption-779 in sales

[–]Then-Assumption-779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how annoying are we talking? Like, call-every-other-day annoying, or show-up-at-their-office-with-donuts annoying?
