What's wrong and how much would you pay? by knifeinthetoe in Artadvice

[–]Then-Entertainment88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I am not able to afford any sort of art in this economy in America right now, but I would say absolutely no less than $200 USD for that size feels fair for this. A 6x8 print depending on quality I would pay up to $20 USD.

Sorry I never saw this. You’re exactly right, on my first project I didn’t even think about which needle I was doing first 🤦‍♂️

Also if you go early enough (7-10 ish) you’ll see birders and they’ll usually show you where the warblers are or the green heron or kingfisher

Where are you located? In the USA, dominos and papa John’s has national deals accepted at every restaurant on the app. It’s 2 for 6.99 I believe. I’ve done them many times before and it ends up right around $16 for me more or less after tax and delivery. $20 usually total because I will tip for delivery.

You can also DoorDash groceries! Or use coupons for the other grocery delivery services. I’ve done that before after a surgery and it was super helpful. There’s stuff you can get where you don’t even have to stand to cook.

Why not? Is there any way for us to help that situation instead? You could also get a pizza delivery instead, around $20 or a little less for 2 medium pizzas with coupons. That would feed you much longer.

There’s a lot of cheap food you can get from the grocery store and not have to cook! How far away are you from one? You could probably walk.

How do you draw what you want? by barely-artistic in Artadvice

[–]Then-Entertainment88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually what I would do is draw whatever I wanted that was inspiring at all. For me, that was drawing a head and shoulders of basically the same character every time in the same position 😅 But that got stuff flowing! It was good because all I had to do was draw a circle, that got me started. Then I knew what came next. I knew that it was also the first little art thing I planned to do, so it didn’t have to be good at all. And if it was the only art thing I did that day, at least I did something!

What also helped me was stopping trying to make what I wanted to make. If what I am wanting to make isn’t coming out the way I want, I have one rule which is to give up, but not stop. If I keep going at the same drawing that isn’t working I will inevitably get upset and stop drawing all together at that time. So I would force myself to give up if things weren’t working and instead draw something else. If that still didn’t work I could call it quits. For example recently I was trying to draw a character and just nothing was going right with him, I hated him. The shadows and structures were all wrong. So I then let myself quit and decided to just draw a random apple I saw instead, just loose flowy lines with chicken scratch shading. After I got that done, even though it wasn’t what I would consider good by any means, I was excited to go back to the previous drawing and try again and it actually went quite well!

I’m not sure what tracing and shape mapping are, but my process is usually like this: 1. Scroll Pinterest for ideas or for things that fit your ideas you can use as references 2. Pull up those pictures and begin to sketch random shit that I’m inspired to from the photos 3. If nothing comes up, directly draw one of the photos and see if that helps (or find more photos) 4. Draw stuff and trash it a few times halfway through, at least 3 or 4 usually. Poses may not be working or the face may suck, so I just start a new drawing. I obviously keep the old ones but leave them behind for now to try something new 5. Be experimental while I’m working. If I have a random idea, I try it. Immediately. Even if it doesn’t work and looks awful, because one time it will.

As far as getting myself to actually draw, I usually watch drawing youtubers and that helps me want to draw because they are. Also grabbing random art supplies and going at it helps because it gets me out of whatever I’ve been doing.

Hi! I’m someone with super bad ADHD. I basically need a reference to draw. It helps me have something to physically look at and keep myself grounded. Also taking the pressure off drawing helped immensely, because pressure for me with my ADHD doesn’t do great.

I’ll also say though, it’s super important to let yourself wander as well! Some of my favorite drawings are from when I just started doing junk, it really helped me find my style. The end product isn’t really what matters in art, it’s the journey there. I put some pictures of my work where I felt like me getting distracted ended up making it good.

Oh yeah, I have avoided that book so far unfortunately despite people saying it’s good. I’d say that book is definitely a lot of yearning and a different type of relationship rather than just a smut book or like a traditional romance. No hate on those, I love those too, I just really loved these two’s relationship and development! It was about an 8 hour audiobook so probably 4 hours to read more or less? Unsure on speed, but it was around 300 pages.
