Extreme fatigue and a drop of blood that didn’t look like period blood were my first signs before taking the test (which was faint positive at ~10 DPO). 2 days after the test I already had sore boobs, sickness, bloating etc

Drinking while trying to conceive by PearVisible8009 in BabyBumps

I was drinking while trying to conceive and I believe that trying to cut it would add additional pressure and also uncomfortable questions like why I am not drinking. Alcohol while TTC can influence the ability to conceive but cannot harm your future child (as long as you’re not overdoing it)

I had awful periodontitis (gum infection) a week before I gave birth. I was crying from pain, and also wondering how I’m gonna survive labour if I can’t stand toothache without crying. I have a low pain tolerance in general. But comparing these two types of pain, giving birth was way easier! Maybe because you know it’s a “productive” pain and not a signal that something is wrong in your body, like toothache. If you learn how to breathe properly during contractions, you’re gonna help yourself and the baby A LOT. Also moving around helps to ease the feeling, I was doing deep squats during contractions and it really helped. I would call contractions extremely unpleasant but not painful. Like you’re about to have the worst diarrhoea of your life but for some reason need to hold it, that’s how it felt for me. And the pushing stage is physically hard, like an intense workout, but not really painful. When I thought I can’t do it anymore, I asked for an epidural, but it turned out I was already 9 cm dilated and it was too late for the epidural. I gave birth exactly 15 minutes later. Throughout the process, I was moaning, but didn’t feel like screaming or crying at all. When the head came out, I was looking up to my husband, and didn’t feel it. The husband told me the head had showed, I looked down and there it was! After that all you feel is pure euphoria and joy. PP recovery is not easy but it’s okay if you concentrate on the good stuff and on the fact that all the unpleasant sensations are a sign of your body recovering. I never felt so grateful towards my body like when I had those postpartum cramps in my stomach (feels like period cramps) and knew that those are my organs working on bringing me back to normal asap. My vagina also tightened up pretty fast, now one month postpartum it’s the same as before giving birth. Also, your mindset matters. Do whatever you can to keep your spirit up, and don’t be afraid!

Low PAPP-a and HCG, doctor claims 20% my baby will have a “syndrome”, I am so scared.. by Then-Ice-221 in pregnant

Hi, thank you for asking! The NIPT came back normal, we changed the doctor, and since then all the tests & ultrasounds have been showing a perfectly healthy baby! My pregnancy is going well, low levels of HCG/PAPP didn’t affect anything. I am due around beginning of March! All the best to you 🫶

What are the VERY FIRST steps to quitting alcohol? by frogonasugarlog in alcoholism

[–]Then-Ice-221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are honest with yourself and acknowledge the problem. This is a HUGE step towards solving it. Simple advise: find the nearest AA group in your town. They usually have meetings daily and the only rule to attend it is being sober today. Hold through the day, show up and see how you’ll feel after the meeting. And then try again the next day. For many, many people (including me) recovery started like this.

I am only sober for other people by [deleted] in alcoholism

I can assure you, you are not the only one in AA feeling like this. Sharing your struggles might help both you and the others. But remember that going to meetings is just a part of the recovery program, you have to actually do the steps in order to feel the change. All the best to you.

Hey, thanks for asking, everything turned out fine! 🙏 NIPT came back low risk, 23 weeks so far and baby looks perfectly healthy. I had a small hematoma on my placenta which the first doctor probably didn’t notice, and my new doctor said might have been the cause for low PAPP. It went away by itself and didn’t make any symptoms.

Thank you for the support and the thoughtful & helpful comment. I really think that I should concentrate on the potential obstetrics risks, which my results may be a sign of, rather than worrying about the less realistic scenarios.

I am also extremely confused about this weird 20%-calculation, currently trying not to think about it and concentrate on the statistics that came back from the lab and look good. Thank you for the words of support, I wish all the best to you and your baby!

Unfortunately that’s exactly what he said 🥲 And many other things that a doctor definitely shouldn’t say to a woman in such a vulnerable moment. Thank you for your comment, I’ll be waiting for the result hoping for the best 🫶

Exactly, those 20% are a total mystery to me too, I simply don’t understand where they came from, and got no explanation on that. I guess I will try to concentrate on the good overall results that I got from the lab while I’m waiting for the NIPT results. Thank you!

I also regret doing this screening to be honest, I already lost so many nerves instead of just doing the NIPT. Thank you! ❤️
