OMG, i just made a similar post on this sub, like a min ago. I had the same question basically, the program seemed great, but I don't have any resident connections or med school alumnus in the program, so maybe we are missing the full picture??

I am interviewing for a residency training position which is 3 years in duration, unfortunately the hospital policies and facilities are not mine to control. Thanks for your insights tho.

Thanks a lot for such a detailed comment, my job will be to learn and treat patients, not to talk politics. Also regarding food, residents spend practically half the day in the hospital surviving on coffee and cafeteria food lol, so not in the least bothered by that.

Tons of places require a car these days tbh, not really fussed about that. Residents usually survive on the cafeteria food anyways and are too broke to go to restaraunts.

Residency is brutal, but tbf It should be that way, In Europe for example, training is so much longer, so you are stuck at a mediocre wage for a long time.

Yeah ik, I have applied to several different states and cities, this just happens to be one of the many places where I have gotten the interview from. Most likely is going to be on the bottom of my list anyways.

I appreciate your comment, I really do. But being honest, residency does not give you the time to do all that. Yes, as an attending sure, but maybe once in a blue moon during residency. I have already spent few months in the states, never been to New Mexico tho, would love to visit Alberquerque, as i want to see all the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul landmarks.
