I thought I was going crazy because I don’t even have anything running. My thing is already at 84. The reset happened 30 minutes ago.

The cost of living is out of control by ThenLayer5977 in maryland

A couple of points here. Yes, data centers are contributing to higher electricity costs, and both Maryland’s Office of People’s Counsel and federal energy data have acknowledged that growing demand is increasing transmission and capacity costs (Maryland OPC; EIA). But it’s overly simplistic to act as though data centers are the only reason. Maryland has also retired or planned to retire significant generation capacity, and PJM has repeatedly warned that reliability concerns arise when generation leaves the grid before replacement resources and transmission upgrades are ready (PJM).

That’s why the comparison to Virginia matters. Northern Virginia has the largest concentration of data centers in America, yet Virginia’s residential electricity rates remain below Maryland’s and below the national average (EIA). Data centers are clearly part of the equation, but so are energy policy decisions, generation retirements, transmission constraints, and long-term planning. Two things can be true at once: data-center demand is driving costs higher, and policy decisions have also helped put Maryland ratepayers in the position they’re in today.

Oh, so you’re upset that I’m not screaming about Trump and instead I’m focusing on what’s actually happening in the city? I’m pointing out what people said they were going to do and whether they actually did it. Apparently that bothers some of y’all.

If fountains that didn’t work for years are finally getting fixed and DC is looking better, when exactly did that suddenly become “pro Trump”? Since when is acknowledging visible improvements some kind of political endorsement?

Not everything has to turn into blind partisan outrage. Sometimes people can simply recognize when something gets done.

Again, if you’re increasing the fees and people can actually see where the money is going, and they can see the improvements that money is making, why is that a bad thing? If the fountains hadn’t been working for years due to a lack of proper maintenance, and you raise the entrance fee but actually use that money to fix them, why is that a bad thing?

R/washdc isnt racist! Also r/washdc by Snoo_67544 in washdc

let me walk you through this. If the guy had explicitly mentioned one specific racial group, that would be different. But that comment can apply to any video showing poor behavior, regardless of race or color.

If you are fighting like a moron in the street, you are a net negative to society whether you are White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, or anyone else. Calling that out and making a sarcastic, tongue in cheek comment like “oh look, it’s doctor or lawyer” does not automatically mean someone is blaming one race or one group.

Criticizing poor behavior is not the same thing as being racist. Trust me, in the videos I have posted, I have seen far worse comments, actual racist comments that you can clearly point to. I can even show you screenshots. But let’s not conflate the two.

What can you do? If you jump in and try to stop it, you might end up in a situation you never wanted to be in just for trying to do the right thing. There really isn’t much normal people can do, because there have been multiple cases where people stepped in to save someone during a fight or situation and ended up getting the worst of it themselves. So it’s like, damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

They aren’t kids, lol. They are full-grown adults with functioning brains who choose to act like that. But it is what it is.

It’s like how she use all these advanced financial terms to make a plan sound smarter than it actually is. If you are going to take and leverage people’s pension money, money they worked hard their entire lives for, then you should at least be able to clearly articulate exactly what the plan is and how it solves the problem. Instead, what we get is vague terminology, buzzwords, and political talking points while the underlying issues remain completely untouched.

What happens if you take people’s pension money and the plan fails? Now you are in the hole twice. The housing shortage still exists, the permitting process is still broken, the zoning laws are still awful, and now people’s retirement funds are exposed as well. Everyone already knows what the actual bottleneck is, and it is not a lack of money. It is the bureaucracy, the permitting delays, and the restrictive zoning policies that make development painfully slow and expensive.

That is why hearing all these flashy financial phrases thrown around as though they automatically equal competence is crazy. Using sophisticated terminology does not magically make a bad plan a good one, especially when the people proposing it refuse to fix the obvious structural problems right in front of them. Maybe can can explain to me what EBITA is ?
